1 Have you ever been a gooseberry? (not literally)
I had to look this up. Not that I can think of. I don't think I ever tagged along when a couple wanted to be alone.

2 Would you rather be He-Man or Skeletor?
I didn't grow up with these characters so I don't have opinion here. I guess I would be a good guy.

3 If you had to be locked in a room with three tv-presenters who would you choose?
Cat Deeley (I loved her since I saw her host in England and then adored her on SYTYCD), Alex Trebek and James Corden.

4 What celebrity lives/lived nearest to the home of your grandparents?
My grandparents live in Coney Island now and I'm sure many celebrities live in Brooklyn but I can't really think of who would be nearest.

5 If you could remember your birth and infancy do you think it would cloud your opinion of your parents?
Probably not. I don't think they behaved any differently.

6 Do you correct people's grammar and spelling on social media or is it a bigger sin to point out such mistakes than it is to make them?
I correct it in my head and silently judge a little but I would rarely point it out.

7 Have you ever been called a nickname that you didn't like?
My high school social studies teacher/moot trial coach would call me "God" occasionally, since if you add an "h" to the end of my name you get the Muslim's name for God. Not my favorite.

23 Would you like to have lived in Ancient Rome? What if you didn't get to choose which class of citizen you were would you take the chance?

I wouldn't mind a quick visit like a tourist but I wouldn't want to live there.

24 Do you lie to your dentist about how often you brush and/or floss your teeth?
My dentist didn't ask last time but I always brush twice a day. I don't really floss consistently though but I don't lie about it.

25 Do you have a switch in your house that apparently does nothing? Do you fear that it might actually do something that you aren't aware of? What do you fear it might do?

No. I don't have a switch that does nothing.

26 What was the most useful thing an elderly relative taught you? Have you taught anyone else?

I can't really think of anything. My grandmother Tanya was a general example to me because she was a wonderful woman. I don't remember direct lessons but she taught me indirectly on what a good kind person should be like. I hope I'm teaching my kids that indirectly as well.

I taught college students history and writing and I hope those skills prove useful to them.

27 Do you have something that you borrowed (or was left at your house) that you know who it belongs to but not how to return it?

Yes. I have a couple of Farscape DVDs that belong to my friend Nicola from grad school but I'm not in touch with her now so I can't return them.

28 Would you be screwed if the internet stopped working? Could you cope if it went down for a day? A week? Forever?

It would suck since I'm used to looking stuff up on it and I love my internet friends and general communication but of course I could cope. I remember living before internet and there is access to the library to look stuff up. But I do like having internet.

29 What's the best town ending in 'ford'?
Oxford

30 Have you ever picked up a randomly ringing phone in a public phone box?
No

16 Have you ever been able to listen to someone talking about Uranus without at least thinking 'your anus'?
Yes, if I'm listening in Russian. :). In Russian, Uranus is "Uran", pronounced "OO-rah-n".

17 Have you ever been able to hear someone talk about a mass debate without thinking about masturbation?
I have never heard the term "mass debate". It must be a British thing. I just heard of regular "debate".

18 What's the best weed?
Dandelion

19 Where do you keep your envelopes?
In the envelope box I bought them in, in the bedroom corner shelves.

20 Have you ever had an out-of-body experience?
No

21 What do you consider to be the most mediocre chocolate bar?
Hersheys. Not that great. I would only resort to it if nothing else is available.

22 If you had to pick one highlight from each decade of your life so far what would those highlights be?

That is too hard; picking one thing is often impossible.

1st decade - trip to Ukraine with my Dad with I was 7
2nd decade - moving to US; meeting Bear; doing study abroad in London
3rd decade - Doing research in England; Passing U. of Toronto PhD Latin exam; teaching
4th decade - Getting married and having my girls - I can't pick just one here.

9 Would you rather 20 butterflies instantly appear from nowhere every time you cough or 100 butterflies die somewhere in the world every time you cough?
I would rather they appear than die somewhere. I might be annoying but still.

10 What was the last thing you bleached?
I have no idea. I don't think I ever used bleach.

11 What's the deepest puddle you've ever stepped in/walked through?
Probably crossing the street after a big rain and not expecting a deep puddle. But I don't really remember the specifics.

12 Have you ever been struck by how freaky lightning is?
Not really. I don't think much about it. It is pretty to watch from the window though.

13 If you could bring one vegetable to life so it could walk around, have consciousness and emotions, which vegetable would you choose?
This is the strangest question. I will pick potato since it is my favorite vegetable. But would that mean I would no longer able to eat it? Well, then I will pick some sort of vegetable that I never eat. I don't like garlic so I can pick that.

14 What's the most impressive thing that you've ever been underneath?
Would Niagara Falls count? I went on a boat to get close to them. Several grand churches come to mind too with their Gothic roofs. And the Aquarium tunnel with sharks and fishes swimming overhead.

15 When you are dead would you prefer your body to be interred in a huge pyramid built in the centre of your hometown with many riches or put in a bin bag and thrown into a skip?
When I'd dead, I wouldn't care. As long as I'm not cremated.

This TV Meme has been floating around my flist, and I am bored enough at work today to do some of it. People are supposed to ask these questions and I can write in comments but I have never been good at those sorts of things. So I will just answer these questions as they are, probably in several installments.

1. if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be?2. if you could have saved one TV show from cancellation, which one would it be?

Firefly really needed more time to develop.

3. have you ever quit a show before it finished? why?

Yes. I don't like to but sometimes the show should have been done long before it's finished. I quit "House" in its final season. I just didn't want to watch anymore. I quit "Bones" when the two main characters finally got together off screen after years of will they/won't they - I was already tired of it but that move just felt so insulting. i'm sure there were some others. Lately I've been giving a show three or four episodes to catch my interest and then if I'm not into it, I just quit. My time for media is limited. I'm going to use it wisely.

4. what's your comfort show?
Friends, Buffy; various Star Trek shows.

5. which shows do you think are underrated and need more love?6. have you ever been inspired to start a new show based on gifs or memes it has produced?
Not really but fandom conversation and other people's love does influence me to try out a show. Like "Supernatural" - many of my friends liked it and I knew of fanfic of various kind and I just decided to watch it when it was airing Season 9 (I watched 1-8 on Netflix, while at the same time watching Season 9 in real time).

7. do you prefer week-to-week content, or just binging all in one go?
Not binging in one go but all episodes available and I can watch at my own pace. I have been doing that with "Agents of Shield" - waiting until the season is on Netflix and then watching the whole thing. I can appreciate seasonal storylines that way and it is just more convenient.

8. what’s one show you thought you’d hate but turned out to really enjoy?
Not hate, I don't think I would ever watch something I thought I would hate. But I didn't think I would like "Supernatural" because I'm not a fan of horror. I didn't think I would like "Burn notice" much because I'm not much into spies but I made a deal with my Dad that I would watch it with him while he would watch "Buffy".

9. what’s one show you thought you’d love but turned out to really hate?
Well, recently, I thought I would really like "Working Moms" on Netflix but I stopped after 4 episodes because I hated the characters. And storylines were not appealing.

10. which TV show has the best musical soundtrack, in your opinion?
Buffy - I love the musical episode and I have several CDs of songs from Buffy that my friend in grad school burned for me.

11. have you ever watched a show just for a specific actor? did you enjoy it?
Yes! I first saw Peter Wingfield in "Riverworld" mini-series on SyFy and I loved him. He was very good looking too. I looked up what else he has been in and "Highlander" was on Netflix. So I watched the whole series one summer. He only appears in the 3rd season but then he plays my favorite character. I love "Highlander." It's a really great show with awesome fanfic.

12. what genre of TV show is your favourite?
Sci-fi.

13. do you tend to stick to one type of TV show (eg, short-form comedy), or are you into many different genres?
I watch both comedies and one hour shows. Different genres. I loved Star Trek series, Friends, Glee, Brother and Sisters, fantasy shows, Superhero shows, True Blood, ER, Bones, House etc. I don't like horror or soaps that much but my genre varies.

14. have you ever written fanfiction for a TV show?

Yes. I have written a Torchwood and Highlander fanfic.

15. have you ever drawn fanart for a show?

No

1 Have you ever played an April fool's joke on someone?

I might have tried some jokes with my Dad when I was a kid, but I don't really do it as an adult. I don't like it.

2 What would you 8 Desert Island Discs be? (if you don't know what this British institution is I suggest a quick Google)

I always have trouble picking a small number of music for a playlist - music tastes change and if I don't have my CDs in front of me, I will forget something. Can I make 8 mixed tapes with my most played songs? I would want to take "Aida" musical soundtrack as that is my favorite musical. Beethoven's 7th symphony. Probably something "Coldplay" although it is hard to pick an album. Songs from "Buffy" - I have a mixed CD a friend of mine made. "Traviata". Maybe Lady Gaga. "Essential Leonard Cohen", and "Hamilton".

3 If you could have a Willy Wonka-style golden ticket to go on a tour of any real factory in the world which factory would you visit? Would you be disappointed if it wasn't gifted to you at the end?

Cadbury - as long as I can taste everything.

4 If you had to swap all the clothes you won with all the clothes of someone you know, whose clothes would you choose? Do you think they'd be as happy as you re to get to wear your clothes?

I don't really pay attention to clothes that much or would want anyone else's style. So I will just keep my own, thank you.

5 You've paid extra to sit in first class on a train but were then charged for a meal you expected to be free. As the refreshment trolley goes past a packet of crisps falls off without anyone noticing, do you eat them or return them to the trolley?

I would return them; I would feel guilty otherwise.

6 You are walking through a public place when you see a pornographic magazine open on top of a rubbish bin. Would you tuck it in the bin to save delicate eyes or risk being seen moving it to a recycling bin?

I would ignore it - I'm not touching it. I don't know who touch that last.

7 Is honesty the best policy? If not then what is the best policy?

Most of the time. Or at least not lying. Brutal honesty is not good but lying is not worth it.

8 By how many years after your death do you estimate that your existence will be totally forgotten?

Depends on how old I'm going to be when I die and if I have grandchildren who remember me. Maybe 60 or 70 years or something.

27 What conspiracy theory do you think might actually be true?
I don't pay attention to conspiracy theories. They are mostly deplorable.

28 If you had to plan a new city what are the first five buildings you would insist are in it?
Library, school, police, city hall, and store.

29 Have you ever used a cement mixer?
No

30 Would you rather 5% of the population have telepathy or 5% of the population have telekinesis? You are not part of the 5% that has telepathy or telekinesis.
Telepathy - that would not be pleasant but at least no one can throw me anywhere.

31 Who is your favourite Becky?
My association is Aunt Becky from "Full House" but after the college admission scandal it is hard to separate the character from the actress.

19 How do you think your life would have worked out if you had married your childhood sweetheart, or how did it work out if you did?
I didn't really have a childhood sweetheart. There was a boy who lived on the fifth floor of my building and who was in my class in school that maybe, possibly could have been more but I left for America when I was almost 13. If I stayed in Belarus it would have been a completely different life - I would have gone to college for math probably or teaching. And I can't really say how it would have worked out with him since I don't know him as an adult other than he is married now.

20 Were you ever in a fan club?
I don't think so. Do online forums and participation in fanfic fests count?

21 What was your worst work-related screw-up?
When I was in grad school I was once a TA for a Global history class. I had to teach one section a week before the kids went to the main lecture twice a week. One day I was busy in my office in the history building doing something when I thought to myself, "Why do I have so much time this morning?" And I realized that it completely slipped my mind that I had a class to teach. I rushed to the next building where the class was but it was 15 minutes into the class so everyone has left. I went to the Professor who taught the class to let him know what happened. During the lecture later that day, my students came to me to ask what happened and I told them that I had an unexpected emergency - sorry about that. Not that they were sad at all to miss the class.

22 What is your favourite unsolved crime?
I'm not a big giant crime fan so I don't know that many of them. I guess a definitive answer to the Princes of the Tower would be nice.

23 If only one artefact of human civilisation were to survive to be discovered by future aliens what do you think would be the funniest/most confusing human-created object to sum us up as a species?

I once read either a story or something where the aliens found a toilet and thought it was a temple. So that probably would be my choice.

24 Have you ever seen a famous TV animal in real life?
No

25 Have you ever seen a famous TV vehicle in real life?
No

26 If there were a dream police force - a crime-fighting unit that investigated illegal things that happened in dreams - would you join?
Illegal things that happen in dreams? What can possibly be illegal in dreams? And if one dreams of something illegal, it's not real and people are entitled to their dreams. So I would join the protest movement against such a police force.

8 At what point of decay do you throw away your underwear?
When they develop holes. I usually use old underwear during a period but once they are too holey, out they go.

9 What do you consider the biggest waste of time from your life thus far?
Internet black hole

10 If you owned a racehorse what would you call it?
Hero

11 If an older version of you came back from the future and gave you advice about what you should do with your life would you take the advice or assume that the you from the future was evil and trying to screw you over?
Is this the plot of the finale of Star Trek Voyager - I'm still not convinced by the Admiral Janeway. I would assume I'm for real though and not trying to screw with me but I don't know if changing the future is a good idea - too many unintended consequences.

12 If you were compiling an album called Now that's what I call shit music from all the pop music ever created what 12 tracks would be on it?
There is certainly a lot of terrible music out there but even bad music is fun to someone. And I have no energy to think about a list.

13 Would you rather swing on a star or carry moonbeams home in a jar?
A star would be too hot, and moonbeams sound soothing. So I will go with moonbeams.

14 If you could make anything an Olympic sport what would your best shot at winning a gold medal be?
In high school I rocked AP Government Jeopardy game my teacher threw. So some sort of history trivia game - I would be good at that as I retain many facts.

15 If you had a tribe of Oompa-Loompas living in your house or workplace what would you make them do? Would you insist they sing songs or keep quiet?
I would make them go away. I never seen the movie but I'm aware of them enough to find them annoying. They can go sing somewhere else.

16 Does your hometown have a claim to fame?
I was born in Minsk, Belarus and live in Brooklyn, New York. Both have a long and famous history. My favorites are the Giant Mouse of Minsk from "American Tail" and mention that Hagrid visited Minsk and its vampires in Harry Potter.

17 If you could only have one or the other for the rest of your life would you have baths or showers?
Showers. I like showers. Bath take too much prep.

18 When was the last time you saw a donkey?
In Staten Island zoo a couple years ago when I visited with Tanya.

1 What's your favourite type of weather?
Summer, around 78F, warm but not humid and sunny.

2 If you could choose anyone to be your parents who would you choose?
I wouldn't trade my Dad for anyone. I wouldn't trade my Mom either even though our relationship is very difficult at times. She is still my Mom. But if I had to I would pick my Aunt Vera, as she is no nonsense and very kind.

3 Have you ever intervened heroically in any emergency situation with a complete stranger?
I don't think so. I would try to help if I could.

4 What's the most surprising thing that you can't do?
I don't really drive. I got my license 18 years ago but haven't really driven since. I don't like the idea of driving in the city and I just never drove other places.

I also can't really network effectively - the whole baffles me.

5 What colour is your toothbrush? Are you happy with that colour?
Right now it's orange and white. It was purple and white recently before I replaced it. I'm good with the color - I did pick it out.

6 Would you rather be able to channel the spirits of dead celebrities or never have to replace the light bulb in your bathroom?
This is a silly question as I don't really want to channel anyone nor do I might replacing the light bulb. I suppose I would pick not replacing the light bulb because I think channeling ghosts is silly and also kind of creepy. I don't want any other person in my head.

7 Which person do you interact with the most in your life without knowing what their name is? It's probably too late to ask now, right?
I was about to say one of the maintenance guys in our co-op because I always forget his name, but as I was typing I remembered it was Vince. One of my co-workers, I guess. He introduced himself but I can't remember it at all - I don't work with him directly - he is on our floor.

23 Have you ever been fired? If so what for?
No. I worked a lot on contract and decided not to renew myself, once when I got pregnant with Tanya and quit teaching history at Local College, and again when I got the city job and stopped teaching at the University.

24 Would you rather be a vapour or a liquid?
Liquid.

25 Is there anything you learned at school that has any kind of practical application in real life?
Many, many things. Writing, analysis, reasoning, math, typing, Word and Excel. All those things and skills have applications.

26 How often do you replace your pillows?
I have a big giant feather pillow that I never replace. I replace pillowcases on it as I don't sleep directly on the pillow.

27 Which change in name of a popular product most annoyed you?
When Sci-fi channel because SyFy. I thought that was ridiculous.

28 If you could travel back to medieval times what single object would you take back with you that would guarantee that you would be made a king/Queen (or burned for witchcraft!)?
I don't think one object can do it but I would take antibiotics with me.

14 If you had to marry a Muppet which Muppet would you marry?
I don't know too many muppets. Maybe Gonzo.

15 What's the worst date you have ever been on?
I don't really have a worst date story. I dated two boys in high school and then I met Bear at 18 in college. I never been on a blind date, or just dated someone for only one date or used online apps - so I have no crazy stories. I'm pretty boring.

16 What's the most impulsive thing you've ever done?
I'm not impulsive by nature; I'm comfortable with thinking things through. I guess when we had to decide on the apartment purchase and just had hours to do it.

17 What's your favourite oxide?
Water

18 What's the scariest thing that has ever happened to you in a B&B?
Nothing scary ever really happened in a B&B. The creepiest one was in Norwich but it was mostly because the room was tiny.

19 Who is your favourite Steve?
Steve from "Full House" and "Fuller House" - I really like him as an adult.

20 What type of toothpaste do you use?
Crest

21 Do you see yourself as a pterodactyl or a lawnmower?
lawnmower

22 If you could quantum leap into any other person who would you leap into and what would you change in their life?
I doubt I can actually affect any change or would dare to mess with unintended consequences. I wouldn't mind leaping into someone glamorous so I can go to the Oscars or something. But I wouldn't change things in anyone's life.

7 What's the most bizarre wrong number text that you've ever received?
I don't think I ever got a wrong text. I did get a weird wrong number phone call at 2am on New Year's Day once - that was just annoying.

8 Would you rather have a magic mirror in which you could see your dead relatives as if they were alive again but couldn't speak to you and could only glumly wave or a 2 for 1 voucher for any main meal at a Pizza Express (Monday to Thursday)?
Like a Harry Potter type Erised mirror? We;; since I never ate at Pizza Express or would want to, I would pick the mirror. I wouldn't mind waving at my grandmother. I could talk to her without her reply.

9 What's the most expensive thing that you've had eaten by a pet?
I never had pets. My parents did watch a neighbor's dog once and that dog chewed up my newly bought Ken doll's arm (this was soon after we can to America and I got a Barbie and Ken for my 13th birthday - and getting those dolls was a big thing at the time.) Now my girls play with those dolls and you can still see the bite marks. But nothing bigger than that.

10 If every time you farted a fairy died (in agony) would you stop farting?
You can't actually stop farting - it is sort of essential to humans. Fairies would be long extinct under these conditions.

11 What's the most benign fairground or playground ride that has properly scared you?
I don't think any playground rides ever scared me but I do get scared on the Ferris Wheel because heights make me uncomfortable, especially if there are no windows and you just hang there in a basket. I rarely go on those.

12 If you could choose to have sex with anyone, living or dead, who would you choose? (Would you choose someone who was dead? What's wrong with you?)
Bear. If he was dead, I have no idea. It would have to be someone I cared about; I don't think I would be comfortable with one-night stands. What's sounds sexy or romantic in one's head is not always good in real life.

13 Would you rather never have to clean a bathroom again or never have to do dishes again?
Doing the dishes is my favorite chore - the hot water is soothing. Although I don't really mind cleaning the bathroom. Washing the floors is what I usually try to avoid or pass on to Bear to do. So I would rather never clean the bathroom.

1 Is there a catchphrase from an old TV show or adverts that hardly anyone else remembers but that you still use?
The awesome IKEA commercial when we see an old lamp on the street in the rain with sad music and they go "Many of you feel bad for this lamp. That is because you are crazy. It has no feelings. And the new one is much better." It was hilarious and I use it to get rid of old stuff.

2 If you could talk to any one type of animal and they could talk back to you what animal would you choose?
Maybe dolphins because they are very intelligent.

3 If you could put a custard pie in the face of anyone in the world (with no retaliation) who would you choose to do that to?
I would eat the pie. Wasting food, especially delicious food is very silly. I can never watch TV or movie food fights. All that wasted food makes me cringe, not to mention the clean up.

4 If you won the lottery would you still buy a ticket every week? What do you think of people who win a second time?
I don't buy a ticket every week now. I only buy when there is a huge jackpot and usually as part of a work pool. But if I won a big amount I would not buy again. Let someone else have a shot.

5 Have you ever fallen down stairs?
Yes. When my parents had carpet on their stairs. Once I slid down half way on my butt. Mostly I was just startled and had a sore back for a little bit.

6 What is the worst perk you've ever received because of your job?
I don't think I ever received bad perks. Or a lot of perks in general.

19 What's the strangest statue you've ever seen?
In my college there was a weirdest sculpture by the central clock tower. I still don't know what it was supposed to be. (I was trying to find the image for it and it is called "Pegasus statue". yeah. Still weird)

Statue

20 Have you ever been in a police car?
No.

21 Have you ever made a prank phone call?
No. That always seemed too silly.

22 If you had to invent a fifth season, which two other seasons would you put it between and what would happen in it?
I like the four seasons just as they are. Maybe a longer spring since it seems to go quickly from cold to hot.

23 If you only had a week to live who would you tell to go fuck themselves?
No one. I wouldn't want to waste the energy. Just focus on the positives.

24 Why do you think the Fairy Godmother only gave Cinderella all the magic stuff until midnight?
She didn't want Cinderella to stay up all night and felt she needed a reminder to stop partying and go home to sleep.

25 Would you rather be a bee or a butterfly?
A butterfly. The ones that get to travel far.

26 If you could turn anyone in your family into an animal which family member would you choose and what animal would they become?
I call my husband Bear as a nickname, so I would turn him into an actual polar bear for a day so he can see what's it actually like (but also magically transport him to the North Pole or something for the experience).

27 If you were the ruler of the universe what laws would you make?
No illness. And everyone can live to old age and die peacefully.

28 Would you prefer to eat nothing but chocolate or be able to read people's minds?
Neither of those options are great longterm. I would pick being able to read people's minds but only if I could turn it on and off.

29 When you were a child what did you fantasize about doing when you grew up?
In real life, since I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. That was pretty much it. For my fantasies and daydreams I was making up stories and was a character in them.

30 If I told you that one person you know is secretly an alien who do you think it is? Why?
My Mom's cousin Inna because one feels strained after her every visit and she keeps sending me anti-vaxxer articles.

31 If you could click your fingers and be anywhere in the world right now where would you go? Yes you can get home again with another click
London! I miss it.

January Meme Questions

8 When you are watching films do you Google the actors to find out if they are still alive and/or what else they have been in?
Sometimes, if the face seems really familiar and I can't place it, I want to figure out what I've seen them in. I don't search to find out if they are alive or not.

9 Have you ever been in a canoe?
Yes. Many times. Bear and I went on one in Pennsylvania during our mini-honeymoon right after our wedding.

10 Which children's story, song or TV programme do you think is most fundamentally flawed, plot-wise?
I'm sure there are many if you are start to think deeply about them. Some Disney happy endings perhaps - Little Mermaid is not a happy story. And Little Red Riding hood does not end happily either unlike in modern recount of it. Mostly for me the biggest one that always bugged me is instantly falling in love with the first person you see. I loved how "Frozen" panned that. And that is why "Beauty and the Beast" has always been my favorite. In the story and even in the movie, the characters get to know each other first.

11 Do you prefer coffee or aeroplanes? If you had to choose to eradicate one of the two from all human history which would go?
I don't drink coffee as I'm a tea person so I would choose to eradicate coffee every time. I don't like traveling on planes but it is often convenient.

12 What subject were you worse at at school?
Gym. I was good at all the subjects. So to keep my GPA up I joined "Leaders" program for gym after 10th grade, which was basically Teaching Assistant program where I was guaranteed an A.

13 Is there something you once abhorred that you now adore?
It was strange for me to get used to foods that I never had or even saw as a child. So I was distrustful of broccoli for a long time. I also liked mango juice but didn't want to eat actual mangos. I did eventually started liking it. But the biggest example has to be avocado. I really couldn't stand it and used to pick it out of the salads my Mom would make. And then after Tanya was born and we were giving some to her once she started solid food, I started eating it more and now I love it.

14 What is your most impressive party trick?
I don't really go to parties so I don't think I have any tricks.

15 Which supposedly attractive film star do you think is a bit ugly?
Not ugly but I never understood what the big deal was about Brad Pitt. I find him pretty plain. Also Leonardo Dicaprio.

16 Have you ever planned what you would do in the event of a zombie apocalypse?
Not really. Bear like survival gear and has a bunch of stuff in his suitcase so I'll stick by him.

17 If your house was on fire what three things would you definitely leave behind or even surreptitiously throw into the flames when no one was looking?
When we moved in 2016 we sorted through a lot of stuff, so I threw out a lot of stuff I didn't need. So there is nothing to throw in the fire. I can't think of an ugly annoying item. If Bear has any of those, he probably stores that at his parents' house.

18 What children's toy or accessory do you wish they made in adult size?
Nothing really. I did walk through a life size Barbie doll house once when Toys R Us still had a Times Square store but nothing I would really want in a big size.

I figured I will try to answer these questions maybe once a week since I'm not sure I can keep up every single day.

1 Would you rather relive the last 365 days or lose a year of your life?
Last year was pretty nice other than 2 days - when I fell and broke my nose and the procedure to reset it. Plus three recovery days. So I would rather relive the last year than lose a year. I wouldn't want to lose a year in the lives of my children.

2 What is your most mundane encounter with a celebrity?
I don't know. Not a big world celebrity, but a celebrity in the world of medieval history - I saw Judith Bennett at the archives at Norwich when I was there and got the courage to go talk to her. She took me out for a drink and a chat; that was pretty nice.

3 What's the best advice you've ever received and ignored?
At one point my advisor at grad school did say it might be useful to see a therapist to help me with dissertation writing; since I had a block and it was hard for me to work on it. Maybe it would have helped.

4 What's the best museum you've ever been to?
This is a hard question because I love museums. But I will have to go with Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I love going every time. They have excellent exhibitions. And great period rooms and the temple and so many things other than just paintings. Although I love the paintings too, especially the impressionists. It is just so big that after 25 years of going there I still don't feel I've seen everything.

5 Twelfth Night is also known as Epiphany. Have you ever had an epiphany?
I don't think so. Most of my decisions seem to come one gradually. There was never one defining moment.

6 What is your favourite keyboard shortcut?
Control c and control v (Copy and paste)

7 If you were guaranteed that you would be unkillable, indestructible and uninjurable for the next ten years, but you would die once the decade was up, would you go for it?
No. This seems very silly. It's like the deal with the crossroads demon - not worth it at the end.

2018 was a pretty calm and mostly uneventful year, especially after all the personal changes in 2017. It was a steady year. I got settled in my job, weaned Olivia who is now sleeping through the night (so I get to sleep and have my sanity back), took Tanya to her first day of pre-K, had a vacation with Bear. We did go to the Aquarium and Museum of Natural History as a family and had a great day at Coney Island celebrating Tanya's 4th birthday. We met my friend Marianna and her family much more this year, which was great. There were some stressors, mostly with my parents' health and worrying about my elderly grandparents. My co-worker was really sick and out for 6 months. And of course my "adventure" in falling and breaking my nose. But still, overall, it was a quiet year, which I'm grateful for.
