Jan. 1st, 2015 09:03 pmHappy New Year!
I did stay up last night to watch the ball drop but I was a little too sleepy to appreciate it. And Tanya tried new food so it made her wake up frequently. It is a sleepy new year so far.
But we got dressed up last night to take our annual pictures, and we had a New Year feast and this morning Ded Moroz (Russian Santa) brought lots of presents for Tanya, Bear and me. My parents don't get any. Presents are just for kids but my parents still give me some too.
I was just expecting a book. And my Dad gave me 'The Martian' by Andy Weir, but my parents also decided to give me a new laptop. Granted, mine now is pretty crappy as it pauses and freezes all the time, but I really wasn't expecting it. My parents jokingly called it a bonus for giving them a grandchild. Bear gave me the second season of 'Community'.
Tanya got blocks with Russian letters and blocks with numbers from me, several books from my parents and a stuffed hedgehog. She loved the bows on the wrapping paper the most and the hedgehog.
I got Bear the new John Cleese autobiography and my parents gave him a set of Harry Potter movies, a fancy sweater and jacket.
Not a bad start for the year.
P.s. 9pm - My Dad's cousin Lenya and his 8 year old son Edik (Edward) came over in the afternoon. Edik got 2015 Guiness Book of Records for New Year and I got the 3d app so we could scan some pages and see 3d images through the phone. Like the tallest man rising out the book and standing in our living room. That was fun.
On the other hand, my mood was spoiled at bit because one federal job I applied to decided to use New Year's Day to let me know that they won't hire me. Couldn't they have waited until tomorrow?
