Today wasn't as nice a day as yesterday with the morning rain, but at least when I had to go out in the afternoon, it was more or less decent. I had a check-up today, which went fine, and then my parents met me to go visit my grandparents. I bought my grandmother this Russian ice-cream she likes and it was nice just to see them for a little bit. (She always throws me extra cash, which I don't say no to, especially as it makes my grandparents feel good to help.)

Bear and I played the "Zombie" tabletop game for our date night tonight - my sister-in-law Laurie gave it to us for Christmas. It was pretty fun. Bear won but only because I miscalculated and wasn't collecting enough life lines and bullets.

Another low key day. Last night a library borrow request of "The Cuckoo's Calling" - the mystery novel written by J.K. Rowling under a pseudonym - came through. So I downloaded it on my Kindle and been reading it last night and today. It's really good - I'm enjoying the humor in it and the mystery and the characters are pretty interesting too. I'm about 20% in right now.

I caught up on "Grimm" today - which had Russians in the middle of the story, which is always funny to me.

Bear came home in late afternoon and we had a game night today. We mostly played "Connect 4" and magnetic darts but we did get "Zombies!!!" table game for Christmas that we are going to try out soon. I'm not in the mood for it tonight but I am looking forward to it. (I rock "connect 4" but Bear actually managed to win one game today - which is great too. I won 3 and we tied 1) We also have a game called "Pandemic" which is a game where all the players need to cooperate to win or lose together - I really like that. We are slowly building a nice collection of games.

It is Fall Equinox today. And to mark the start of Autumn, here in the Northern hemisphere the day had been really rainy. At one point it was pouring rain and one of my students showed up to class soaking wet.

Today is peer review day in my writing classes so it is the easiest teaching day. I just made copies of the peer review handout and put them in groups. I just sat there and basically graded papers.

I didn’t grade all day and I have tons of grading let for the weekend. In the morning, during office hours I actually rewatched “Community” and read the latest Mark Reads review, since he started “American Gods.” It is fun to see him put the clues together and get excited over Norse Myths.

In the evening, it was game night at my neighbors’ house. It was the first time I played Monopoly in maybe a decade. (Well, there was one night of Simpson’s Monopoly at Bear’s parents house.) And my first game night in a very long time. Alexis, the Kid, came over at 7pm to make sure I didn’t forget. Her Mom, Laura, ordered pizza for everyone. There were six of us, myself, Laura and her two kids, Alexis and Andrew, and another neighbor’s kids: Ari and Matthew. (Ari is now 9 and I remember when he was born – seeing these kids grow up is fun). I had dinner when I came home from work but I couldn’t resist that slice of mushroom pizza. A very small breakfast and lunch is in my future. The game itself was fun, we played for an hour and a half maybe. Matthew won, I was in like 5th place – but I really don’t care about that. We should try to have more of these.

P.S. Bear’s sister got a boy kitten for her birthday and she named him Leo for Leopold since Bear's parents have a girl cat called Katie. I find it very adorable.
