Highlander “Bless the Child” and “Unholy Alliance”
“Bless the Child” is a pretty ordinary episode. I’m not a big fan of Charlie but I don’t mind him in this episode. And I like Mac with a baby, it was very cute.
“Unholy Alliance.” The two-parters are really good on this show- both the set-up and resolution. Each make good stand alone episodes and at the same time work well together. And because the show films in both Canada and France, with second part moving to France creates great story movement. I noticed they do the two-parter Canada to France in most seasons and it always works really well for a transition. Xavier St. Cloud and Horton are both great villains, but Horton is one of those villains that you want to just die. The is visceral dislike of him, he is not a fun villain that you want to stick around. Duncan and Joe conflict is also well played here. They still don’t know each other well and they are not really friends yet and Joe has all kinds of personal conflicts. It was also very sweet that Duncan is still grieving for Tessa and remembers her everywhere in Paris. That part made me sad. No wonder is not really interested in the cop woman, who really needs to not get involved with her cases, anyway.
