bearshortyNeil Gaiman’s “Changes” is a really cool story about gender. In this story a scientists invents a cure for cancer that involved a resetting of DNA that has a side effect of changing gender. Then the story deals with consequences of that, especially having the ability to change gender by just taking a pill. Very interesting concept, actually. I wish he did write a novel about it like he originally thought he might do.
Papa and I went to Brooklyn this morning to visit my grandparents and spent some time in the courtyard showing pictures of Minsk to my grandmother and one of her friends.
Doctor Who S5E9 “Cold Blood” It is never a good sign when an episode has to be endured. I liked the last five minutes but the rest of it was just stuff to get through. The whole plotline is so stupid, since I don’t really care about most of the characters. Rory’s death is sad but it makes sense in the context of the season. I know the rest of the season gets better – it must!
Doctor Who S5E12 “Pandorica Opens” Now that’s more like it! And it is not just a great cliffhanger, and it was a really great cliffhanger, but also the whole episode keeps you on the edge of the seat. And I have grown to like River more and more with her every appearance. I think it is because we see her do stuff and be adult and awesome. Also the Doctor says that the Box is supposed to contain the most dangerous man in the universe- and the Doctor does not immediately makes that connection? AutonRory was wonderful and I really did not expect him to shoot Amy. Their scene together was very affecting. I expect a giant reset bottom next week. This is really a good end to the season and here’s hoping the next episode matches. But loving the beginning, two episodes in the middle (the Angels) and the last episodes (all written by Moffat himself) still do not a good coherent season make. In Season Four I loved for every story, here, any story that does not directly lead to the main story seems like a waste a bit. I’m even glad I can watch it out of order online.
“Blind Side” too much football for my taste (I still don’t know the rules of this game, nor have I ever watched or sat through a game). Otherwise a nice movie. Not much more to say about it.
