Freaked out. Why would I be happy? It would be really creepy.

3 If your hair could be any colour or style what colour and style would it like?
My kept my hair brown and about just below shoulder length for a long time. When I was 19 and 20 I did cut it short for the summer. After that last time, my hair grow our poofy and big. I think my hair would like to be less poofy but mostly I just wear it in a bun anyway. I like my hair color and color it as close to my natural brown as I can. I do like reddish highlights once in a while.
4 Have you ever been on a sledge or toboggan?
I grew up in Belarus with cold snowy winters and I had my wooden sled from age of 2 to 12. I loved that thing. We would go to these hills in nearby park and would just go sown them. Sledding is my favorite winter activity not that I done it much since I was kid. That last winter in Minsk when I was 12, before we moved to the US, I used that sled a lot since I knew we were leaving it behind. I really miss sledding and cross country skiing of my childhood, where we could just cross the street and do that and not have to travel to a special far location.

7 Have you ever had anything removed from your body?
Adenoids when I was 8.

I don't think I stopped liking something just because it became more popular.
14 What’s the coldest you’ve ever been?
When Bear and I visited Grand Canyon in January 2013. It was below freezing in Phoenix, just to give you an idea of how cold it was. It was like the coldest week in 30 years. I was wearing heating pads in my boots and in my gloves and so many layers. It was really, really cold. Great views, of course. Interesting trip. But very cold one.
15 Do you take it personally that you have never been abducted by aliens?
I don't know why aliens would bother to kidnap anybody actually. So no.
16 Do you think you have already had the best day of your life? If so is that a depressing thought?
Maybe but I'm an optimist and hope for many great days ahead. And it wouldn't be depressing if I did have it already. There is more to life than just "the best" day.

Medium. They look presentable but never perfect.
18 Which person from history do you think would make the best Father Christmas in a department store grotto?
Someone with a nice white beard?

I always hated "Christmas shoes". That song is so weird and I have to turn it off if I hear it on the radio. Thankfully, I didn't hear it much this year.
20 Did you ever appear in a Nativity play?
I'm not a Christian and I grew up in atheist country so we didn't have Christmas or Nativity Plays when I was growing up. We had school until almost the New Year.
21 What regular childhood Christmas gift do you miss receiving as an adult?
I didn't celebrate Christmas as the child. Our main holiday was New Year and we would get presents on New Year's morning from Grandpa Frost. I still get a book every year from my Dad. I guess I miss the chocolate candies in fancy New year packages.
22 Who do you miss most of all out of the people who aren't going to be with you at Christmas?
No one really. I miss my grandmother the most - she died in 1999 - but we didn't celebrate Christmas so it is not a special occasion.

Maybe medieval Christmas just to see how it was done.
24 How do you think Rudolf ended up with a red nose?
Frostbite.
25 At what point in the day do you open your Christmas presents?
It can vary. I opened one present from Bear in the morning and the rest in the afternoon. In Bear's family, kids open some presents in the morning and the rest sometime in the afternoon, a little bit at the time. For New Year, we open all presents in the morning, when we wake up.
26 I think having Christmas every 5 years would make it more special - what do you think?
It is a yearly event for a reason. It's fine every year. Every five years would make it less interesting actually as people would forget most details, especially kids. For kids a year is a really long time.
27 What is the worst sleeping arrangement you have ever experienced during Christmas?
Usually it's fine - I either slept in the guest room or now we send Bear to the basement while the girls and I are in his room upstairs. Nothing too terrible really.

In the plane flying to London.
29 What's your favourite flat thing?
My kitchen counter? It is made from a very pretty stone.
30 Have you got any resolutions for the New Year? Remember no is a perfectly good answer
Never specific ones but I would like to exercise more and to write more.
31 You find out that science has been getting it wrong and there are actually 366 days in every year (367 in a leap year)! However it is too much trouble to get the extra day added to the calendar so they're just going to plonk it at the end of the year. What would you name it? You don't have to work, how would you spend it?
Solar catch-up week. Just laze around with the girls. Maybe go somewhere.

Date: 2019-12-26 07:00 pm (UTC)Same! Not being able to do it locally is a pain... I haven't actually gone sledding in 20+ years, and it's something I haven't really been able to share with the rodents. I mean, we could drive for hours to get to a ski resort and find places to go sledding, or do what we did when I was a teen in the US and just venture close to Yosemite in winter and hope there was snow. But it's not really the same, and a lot of effort for maybe no pay-off if you don't get lucky. :(
