bearshorty8 If the sun wasn't going to come up tomorrow unless you threw a member of your family into a volcano which member of your family would you throw in? Or would you not throw anyone in and condemn your hemisphere to icy deaths?
I don't dislike anyone in my family that much to seriously contemplate this question. Even my annoying aunt Inna (my mom's second cousin) is somebody's Mom and grandma. So I'm just going to pass.
9 If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to see it, does it use its branches like arms to lessen the impact of the fall?
No. A tree doesn't have a similar level of consciousness and lessening falls would not be an instinct of a tree.
10 Given that bears don't exclusively shit in the woods and polar bears basically never do, what do you think people mean when they say 'do bears shit in the woods?'
The idea is that in our imagination all bears live in the forest and of course shit there. So it just means to reinforce the obvious.
11 Have you ever had an internal battle? Who won?
I don't think so.
12 Would you rather be the best at what you do but no one has ever heard of you, or world famous for being the best at what you do but actually at it?
The best at what I do - I don't want to be famous.
13 Have you ever taken part in an identity parade - either trying to pick out the criminal or being one of the people who isn't a criminal or being the alleged criminal?
No.
14 Would you rather have pubic hair made of unremoveable barbed wire or be attacked by a rabid badger in your sleep once a week?
Rabid badger - especially if it is happening in the dream. I will build dream defenses.
15 Would you prefer to have a hand made out of ham or an armpit that dispensed sun-cream?
Sun-cream might be useful.
16 What do you think happens when we die?
Nothingness. Things just end and our cells go back into the universe. In his autobiography Nabokov pointed out that we are not bothered by the eons of nothingness that came before we were born and only by the after. That our window of consciousness is really small in the course of things. That stuck with me for some reason.
