Jan. 18th, 2017 09:50 amFirst a meme taken from pretty much everyone:
Bold what you did in 2016:
Got a new piercing.
Dyed my hair. - a couple of times. I have a lot of gray - it's genetic in our family. I just like my hair in its natural brown color.
Ended a relationship.
Started a new relationship.
Been on a long car journey. - the longest we drive lately is an hour, so I don't think this counts
Passed an exam. - I did one of the federal jobs exams. As I got an interview I assume I passed.
Cried on someone’s shoulder. - I got upset at a comment one of my friends made and cried to another friend about it. I'm not a deep cryer though.
Had a massive fight with a significant other.
Received flowers.
Had a Valentine.
Written a letter using pen and paper. - not a letter per se but thank you cards and Christmas cards.
Gone to see a therapist.
Been prescribed medication by a doctor.
Read a really good book.
Gone to the zoo. - a couple of trips to Staten Island Zoo
Spent too much money on unnecessary things. - I barely spend money lately, so not this year.
Travelled by train. - my work commute, most of the time
Cried over someone.
Spent a day out in the sun getting a tan. - my Florida trip, definite beach time.
Slammed a door out of frustration.
Had an anxiety attack.
Had a BBQ. - I think my in-laws had one
Gone to the fair. - a little fair in Long Island for the in-laws church. There were rides. Mostly for Bear and Tanya, but I did do bumper cars.
Gone bowling.
Seen a film at the cinema in 3D.
Gone on a date. - Bear and I had a few dates in Florida, to the movie and to the Everglades, we also went to Broadway last year and we had a date the day after Thanksgiving to the local theater and dinner.
Been the only sober one on a night out.
Helped someone home after they’d had too much to drink.
Stayed up all night. - there was a night when my daughter had a fever and wasn't sleeping. So I was up too.
Talked on the phone for over 2 hours. - who has the time for that?
Supported someone who’d received bad news.
Watched some kind of live sporting event.- Olympics!
Read an entire book in one day. - it was a children's book. Several in fact. 2016 was the first time I ever read "Cat in the Hat" for example.
Bought a DVD/game/CD the day it was released.
Eaten McDonald’s more than four times in a single week. - I don't think I went there even once. Maybe to get ice-cream?
Cried as a result of exam stress.
Met some incredible new people. - online, yes! lots of nice friendzings
Fallen backwards off a chair.
Broken my glasses.
Cried over someone in my past.
Spent hours aimlessly browsing the internet. - who doesn't!
Thrown up. - less than when I was pregnant with Tanya but still. So glad the first trimester is over
Cried over a film. -especially 'Inside Out'
Gone out of my way to avoid an ex-significant other.
Fought with someone in public.
Been in a relationship for a year or longer. - 18 years and counting
Today is the first day of the new semester for me, so I'm at work. My Dad dropped off my Mom very early (6:20am) and drove me to work. He will pick me up at 5 today. I already printed everything I needed to print from Syllabi to first day Writing Samples to my rosters, so now I just have time to kill. My classes are from 1:40 to 4:40 this semester (an hour 20 minutes for each class) and I technically have office hours from 12:30 to 1:30. So I'm now I'm just catching up on books and emails and blogs and commenting.
Before the offices opened and I could print and use a computer, I was looking forward to sitting on the new comfy couches close to the offices. But they replaced them with these modern looking armchairs, which are not nearly as comfortable! Sometimes, new things are not better.
I also wrote an official "intent to move" letter to our apartment's management company. They have no problem in our breaking our lease, as long as they get 30 days notice. They won't have any issues renting the place and for a higher rent pretty quickly. So we will officially move on February 28. Renovations are going well so far, and they should be done by mid February hopefully. As long as they are done enough for us to move our furniture, that should be fine. I definitely don't want to be paying double rent after February.
I watched the first episode of "Victoria" on Monday, which I really enjoyed. This is not a surpise as I generally like historical dramas and English TV series. And while I was neurtal on Jenna Colman on Doctor Who, I do like her in this role. And yesterday, I brought myself to watch the final episode of "Sherlock" for Season 4. I was a bit bored with it and a lot of the plot didn't make sense. I wish they just had a normal mystery and not a convoluted conspiracy/family soap opera drama. I did like where it all ended and I'm happy if it is the end of the show. If it's not, I hope they get back to fun mysteries again.
Something I want to write down so I don't forget later: this last week, Tanya started playing by pretending to be a character and assigning us roles. She is Cookie Monster, Bear is Elmo (somethimes its vice versa) and I'm the Cat in the Hat. It's pretty cute and an interesting stage in her play development.
