Gilmore Girls: A Year in a Life

I'm really glad that Gilmore Girls backstage drama played out the way it did with Season 7. I wasn't a big fan of Season 7. I watched it sporadically and caught up on it later. But I wasn't a big fan of Season 6 either with its manufactured, ridiculous drama for Luke and Loralei. So it's not like I felt the creators of the show had to be in charge. But now I'm really glad they didn't end the series and got to do this nine years later mini-series since that worked out well. And I'm very, very glad that Roy ended the show pregnant at 32 and not right after college, which is what would have happened. Being pregnant alone (with family support) at 32, even in an uncertain period of life, is much better than being pregnant alone at 22.

Rory often made bad decisions and it was hard to relate to her in later seasons. And she cheated before. I don't care about who she can end up with or her relationship drama, but I'm really turned off by people who cheat and both Rory and Logan were not in the best light. Palladinos completely ignored Logan's Season 7 development. I thought the 'joke' about forgettable Paul was terrible, I felt bad for the guy. I did like seeing her career struggles, although she is really entitled. Still wish the character the best.

My favorite thing about the show was always Luke/Loralei, so my shipper heart was happy with their storyline. I love that they have been together for 9 years and their drama with stupid communication skills was actually pretty minor. And Luke's speech in Fall and the wedding were super lovely. Online someone pointed out that the wedding was set to the first song they danced to. Very lovely and perfect for them.

I also enjoyed Emily's journey here. She was wonderful and very her. And she got some happiness at the end, relative one.

I thought the Fall episode was the best. Summer dragged (too much musical), but the Fall made me bawl with Loralei's phone call to her Mom about best memory of Richard, and then Luke's speech. Those scenes were perfect.

I enjoyed being in that world again and this dose was perfect with no extraneous stuff. I watched it over two days. Loved all the cameos. Overall, the Fall episode did bring everything together well.
