I am very sorry I have been sparse on commenting lately. I have been reading every single post on both LJ and DW but I barely have the energy lately for much more. On top of work stuff, with the most grading this month, I have been going to sleep early between 9 and 10am and getting up at 6, with either work or Tanya to occupy most of my time. Any toddler nap time, I try to catch up on TV (Supergirl, Supernatural, Flash and the Crown). Everything should start to even out in a few weeks, and I will try to comment more.

I'm thinking of doing Ask Me Anything Meme for December to get me to post more and to interact more. Especially as I will hopefully get some energy back.

Last Thursday we finally had our closing! I thought we would be filling out paperwork until the end of time. I even didn't mind signing stuff for 40 minutes at the closing just as long as it was done. I had work that morning, but I ended my last class early. My Dad took a day off work so he could drive me back to Brooklyn, since it's faster than a train and we needed to stop by the bank to get the most enormous bank check I ever held. Bear worked a half day too and we met him by the lawyer offices.

There were 4 lawyers (ours, seller's, co-op's and the bank's,) the seller and the broker and us and it took about an hour. The seller, an elderly woman named Lucy (her Mom lived in the apartment for 40 years, she died last year at age 96 or so), was a little upset at some fees the co-op was making her pay, but otherwise it went fast and easy. And now we own a 2 bedroom apartment. Well, we technically own shares in a building that entitles us to live in that apartment. But it's ours. We have a mortgage and maintenance to pay now.

Tanya and I were staying at my parents's last week so I could go vote on Tuesday and Bear therefore was staying with his since it's closer to his work. But we figured if my Dad went back by himself after the closing (with all the paperwork), Bear could drive me back by 7 or 7:30 for Tanya's bedtime and the two of us could actually go out to dinner and have a little date. It's been a while sincentives it was just the two of us and with my evenings shot lately, it was so wonderful to just spend a few hours alone together. We were going to get Indian, but the traffic was heavy so we opted for the Asian restaurant (both Chinese and Thai food with some other countries represented) that we knew would be faster. Bear pouted at first since he was looking forward to the Indian but he also loves the mango chicken at the Asian place and I got Drunken Noodles, which I shared with him, so he got happy pretty fast.

We are already starting the renovation process with the help of my parents, since they are the ones who are paying for renovations as a very generous present to us. The contractor said it should take about 3 months, so we will probably move at the end of February. All Thanksgiving sales are helping with getting appliances. We already picked out the lamps and the fridge etc. We want to redo the floors, the bathroom, kitchen and to paint plus some electrical work. Big renovation but it does need it and it's better to just do everything before we move in.

On Friday, as we were still at my parents, I took Tanya to the playground in the morning. And this woman with two kids approached me at one point because she recognized me. I couldn't place her face at all. She said we went to school together. I told her my name and she said her name was Tanya and then it clicked for me, since I just knew one Tanya in high school. She was a year below me. I went to her 16th birthday party. I still remember where her parents lived, so I clarified with her, and yes, it was her. I wouldn't have recognized her at all. It's been almost 20 years. She lives in Staten Island now with her husband (who also went to high school with us and said later he remembered me) and 2 kids, around 5 and 3. I dug out some old photos later, took pics of them and texted them to her. She got a kick out of it. Still, it's a little strange talking to someone who you knew well 20 years ago but haven't taliked to since. Trying to find that common ground.
