Bones S5E14. Episode about a “devil” and a psychiatric institution. My favorite part was the main psychologist guy calling Bones out for being so incensitive all the time about psychology and it being “science.” Because Bones was doing this about religion too she is just came off as too obnoxious. I actually get her discussing her beliefs and religion with Booth – they are friends. But she feels the need to give her opinion how she is rational and superior to strangers and how beliefs and jobs of others are not “rational.” I’m glad she got called on this and actually apologized. Little jokes at expense of the “devil” were kind of fun and the mystery was an interesting one. Now “Bones” will be on extended break until April 1, because of Olympics and other crazy schedules and I’m not regretting it. I actually want a break from regular TV for a bit.
I finished “Dead as a Doornail.” With each book in the series, the author is getting better at making stuff actually happen and sustaining the mysteries. In this book, she was juggling three mysteries – who is shooting the shifters, the secret hit man and contest for werewolf packmaster. The threads actually came together pretty well. Sookie didn’t get really beaten up in this one but she got shot, her house burned for a bit, and she got hit in the ribs. One thing that I just found silly is that all supernatural creatures just love Sookie. She was very Mary Sue with six different men – two vampires, a werewolf, a were-panther, a shifter and a were-tiger were all just in love with her and wanted a serious relationship. Well, her future tiger boyfriend is just introduced in this book (and I found him condescending so far with calling her “babe” – he just met her!) but already he is just fascinated with her specialness. The other five kiss her at some point in the book. Granted Sookie is not that interested in the panther ,but still, it is just too much and a bit silly. (And yes there will be an explanation for why supernatural creatures find her so irresistible but still for a woman who never had a boyfriend until she was twenty-five and met a vampire, she has too much interest from guys in a space of one year.) Still, the books are getting better and they are a nice silly beach-type reading. I’m getting the next book in the library because, for some reason, my order for Book 6 came in really quickly – usually I have to wait a few month.
