USAToday had a really fun feature today in its Travel Section tied with “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” and webcam. One could print a special map (or get it in the newspaper) and set it up in front of a webcam where the map would come alive with 3D pictures to show the upcoming Orlando attraction – it is very geeky and cool. I had Papa print me the map at work. Sometimes technology is very awesome. I am really looking forward to visiting this park someday too.

Bones S5E13 A decent episode. Jared subplot was a bit silly but the main case was sort of interesting for some character moments. The guy who had one scene as a closeted football player in love with the victim was a really moving scene and cudos to the actor. Bones’ speech about love was also lovely.

I started the fifth book in Sookie Stackhouse series. “Dead as a Doornail.” I picked it up from the library yesterday because I refuse to buy any more of them. When “True Blood” premiered on HBO, I never heard of the books and wasn’t sure if I wanted to see the show based on just the preview. But I did watch it out of curiosity and over the first season I just grew to love it. Papa and I watch it together (which makes the overt sexual scenes sometimes uncomfortable to sit through) and it is a lot of fun. The vampires are appropriately seductive and very scary at the same time and lots of interesting themes are explored. The second season was even better and this show is definitely the show I look forward to the most. (“Dollhouse” doesn’t count since it will be over tomorrow and “House” is a close second.) What is wonderful about the TV show is all the secondary characters and their stories, while the books are from Sookie’s perspective (the main character). After the first season ended, I ordered first four books on Amazon (they had a sale). Then I discovered that I didn’t enjoy the books that much and that the TV show firmly surpassed the books. I found the plot too simple and step by step and I didn’t like that in every book Sookie gets beaten up and all men are just attracted to her, they can’t help themselves. (Yes, there is a potential reason for that but still). So I read the first three and kind of stopped. I did like watching the second season and knowing what the second book was about (the two have similar plot points but many good differences as well) so when I heard the third season would be based on books three and four, I read book four, which I actually liked much more than first three. And I put book five on hold in my library, in case they would touch on book five as well. I think I’m starting to like the books a bit better as they build in mythology but not enough to actually buy them. I do hope Sookie does not get beat up in this book, although she probably will. “True Blood” is such an awesome show, though.
