Day 24: What qualities you like in a man/woman
When I first met Bear, I was 18 and at the time I never had to really articulate the qualities I was looking for. And a lot of the qualities that I can articulate now were probably influenced by him.
I value honesty and communication above other things, integrity too. Making me laugh and also appreciating my snarky sense of humor. Smart and able to share books and some interests. Someone who is on your side and tries to pick you up when you are in a grumpy mood. Kind. Someone who can be a friend most of all and who won't judge any part of you. Not a jealous type. Someone who can be silly with you.

24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
If I'm just writing a story for myself, I don't usually use a beta. Sometimes, I do ask Bear to do grammar check but mostly I just proofread several times. For fests, I do use a beta - in the last few years, an amazing one who always makes my fics better and gives great suggestions. Most of my beta stories are dream stories - I never really had a horror story.
Nobel week
The week when Nobel Prizes are given out has me glued to the news feed. I love reading about all the scientists and writers etc especially when we get a glimpse of their reactions. On Thursday, I was checking the BBC news feed since 6am to find out the Literature Prize. My Dad was driving me to work so we were both very interested. Having a Belorussian woman win was super awesome. Go birth country!
I haven't read her books but they sound like exactly the type of books I like. My Dad read her, of course; he's read most things - his hobby and second job when I was little in Belarus was buying and selling books at the book market - he traveled for his real work and was able to get a lot of rare editions. That way he could also read a lot before selling the books. He read Alexievich long time ago. He also downloaded several of her books onto my Kindle yesterday afternoon, when he came to pick my Mom up from watching Tanya. I'm looking forward to reading the book about the women in WWII the most.
