Day 5: Favorite foods
Bread would be at the top of my list. I love dark rye bread. I started walking because my Mom showed me a piece of bread, so it's a long term relationship.
Potatoes are another love. I love them in all forms: baked, fried, mashed. I especially love potato pancakes. They are called draniki in Belorussian.
I mostly eat home cooked stuffed with lots of veggies, and soups and poultry. When I do eat out I prefer Thai or Indian food.

5 –If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
I don't think I had a character push their way in but there were a few stories where a minor character who was just going to get a mention ended up being very significant. I just let the character do their thing. One example that comes to mind is Letters at 4am . This was an epistolary fic written from Remus' perspective about his trip to New York one December. Remus' mother was just supposed to be his reason to take the holiday - she left him some money - but she ended up being crucial to the story and a big influence on Remus.
Real Life
I realized today how much happier I became over the last three weeks since I went back to work. I only work part-time, two days a week, but it provides such a nice balance between staying home with a baby and doing useful work helping students to write. I'm not working part-time and being a stay at home mom the rest of the time by choice - I have been trying to get a full time job to no avail - but I am making the best out of the situation and enjoying this balance very much. It helps that because Basic Comp are much smaller classes, I'm much less stressed about grading.
I met a new instructor today, Rebecca, and was chatting with her so this sort of came up in conversation. I also like talking to colleagues and other adults. And teaching. And I get to laugh by reading this type of sentences from my students in their intros "Everyone is a unique individual." or "Humans have been evolving since the beginning of time. And our intellect has really advanced in the last few decades"
And when I say I'm happier - I feel joy bubbling up right now just thinking about it. For some reason - maybe hormones from nursing that still didn't leave my system or just from motherhood - I became much more emotional over the last year. I feel stronger joy or stronger sadness or stronger empathy. It's a little strange.
I picked up my new purple glasses today. The world is much crispier and sharper now. I'm still going to wear my old red glasses in front of my computer since they are less strong, though.
Pop Sonnet for Katy Perry's Teenage Dream - is pretty amazing. All other poems on this Tumblr are very clever. There is Metallica and Ramones and even Kanye West acceptance speech. I think I might put the book on the wishlist
