TV
I decided to postpone watching 'Daredevil' and watch 'Sense8' instead. I wasn't planning on checking it out but I read so many good reviews and recs that I gave it a try. I'm half way - just finished Episode 6 last night. I'm really glad I tried it, I'm certainly enjoying it. I'm not binging it; I feel like I'm savoring one episode at a time. I really like all the characters, which I think is unusual. I love sci-fi as well. I will post a deeper review once I finish all the episodes but so far, I love it. And I'm really enjoying the music in it. I don't always pay attention to soundtracks but here music certainly sets a mood.
Books
As usual I'm reading more than one book at a time - one in hard copy and one on Kindle. They are both historical biographies that I got for my birthday - I got 6 books, and I'm determined to not neglect them.
I'm halfway through the biography of Romanov Sisters (daughters of Czar Nicholas II ). I can only read it when someone is with Tanya, since it's a hard copy and reading Kindle is easier at night and at nap time , so it's going slowly. It's good but a little tedious. These girls led very sheltered lives, so it's not always exciting events. I like that the author conveys different personalities of the four sisters clearly since history usually just lumps them together. WWI is about to start, so hopefully the book will pick up a little.
The second book is the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. I'm about 10% in, according to Kindle. The author is very much in love with his subject down to rapsidizing about Hamilton's slender legs, but the detail is good and the book is entertaining and informative. Part of the reason I like biographies is learning about the time people lived in and I haven't brushed up on American Revolution since 11th grade. I'm even enjoying the details of battles especially New York and New Jersey ones since I know the geography. On our mini honeymoon, Bear and I went to New Hope, Pennsylvania and on our last day we did the Delaware Crossing tour. So it was fun to read about it since I can picture the boats and the place.
Real life
Yesterday Bear and I had a simple but fun hour at the playground that felt like a date. It was so nice. I noticed that I've been getting cranky lately by the time he gets home at 5:30. I'm trying not to be. We already don't see each other as much and and when we do, we have a one year old to entertain. I think I've been cranky because being home all the time this summer gets hard sometimes. My world is pretty limited. I'm actually looking forward to the semester and work two days a week. Yesterday, Tanya had a late nap and it was 5 by the time we went outside for playground time. I figured we would just do the swings and go home. But then as we were walking, we saw Bear's car pull up down the street to park. He got back a little earlier so we just went all together instead and stayed longer. We both got ice-cream, talked about Dresden Files, and run with Tanya through the playground water sprinkler. It felt so nice just to do that.
