We drove to Long Island today to spend a week with Bear's parents. Well, Bear is going to be at work most of the week but we'll be hanging around here. It's only an hour and a bit away, not too far, but so much packing. Mostly it was food for Tanya, all her cereals, jars, squeeze packets, organic ingredients for home chicken soup etc. And her toys and clothes and potty etc.

My Mom packed Tanya's clothes on Saturday and we made a list of everything I had to bring. I was pretty calm about it last night. But this morning I woke up all anxious for some reason. I was pretty stressed all morning, packing and putting everything together, although we made good time and left by 9 40. Tanya napped well in the car and we arrived right after 11 for her lunchtime.

She ate well 3oz of milk mixed with quinoa cereal and some banana but then didn't want to nurse as she usually does. She was too busy looking around. I had to pump more and give her 2oz in a bottle instead. She might be weaning herself a bit.

After I ate lunch, I took Tanya for a walk so she could do her second nap in the stroller. I like it because I get to walk for over an hour and exercise. And Bear's parents live in a nice quiet suburbs with little traffic and nice houses.

However, I didn't get to relax after my stressful, anxiety prone morning because a little into the walk, as I turned a corner, I saw a golden retriever standing on his lawn, with no owner in sight, without a leash, looking right at me. I tried turning to go back but he trotted over to me. I took a calming breath and waited for him to sniff me and the stroller and called out to see if his owners were around. The guy was gardening on the side of the house and came and called the dog back while saying,"It's ok, he likes kids." Well, that's wonderful that the dog likes kids but I have a dog phobia since childhood and having even a nice quiet dog approach me is pretty terrifying. My legs were lead, my stomach all nautious and my heart beating hard. My phobia is not as bad as it was when I was a kid, where I would climb the slide and stay there if any dogs were running around but if I see a dog without a leash, it's not pleasant. At least it wasn't a small yuppy dog.

At least the rest of the day was much less dramatic. Tanya was discovering all new places to crawl and played with her grandparents. Ate her food and drank her water and milk. I just settled her in, at least until she wakes up in a few more hours needing more comfort.

Good news of the day, though. Bear got a much needed raise at work. I've working part-time, so extra money will come in handy for sure.
