I watched “Moon” this weekend. I wanted to see this movie since I saw a trailer for it, and Papa actually went to see it in the movie theatre last June while Mama was at ballet. So finally it came on my Netflix queue. (I don’t like the wait for new movies sometimes, movies came much faster when I lived near University). I really liked the story and the atmosphere. Sam Rockwell was brilliant and the movie was seamless in its special effects. It was a really good sci-fi story and I can’t believe the director wrote it just because he wanted to make a movie with Sam Rockwell and the latter mentioned that he liked sci-fi movies. That was a really good story and some stuff was a bit unexpected. The set was good too. I don’t know if I’d watch it again, I might, but is was interesting.
Golden Globes were on today, which, of course, I watched. I love the Oscars, but Golden Globes are my second favorite, especially since they have TV as well as movies. This year, though, I felt I was watching it out of obligation. I did like it (well, other than “Avatar” winning best picture, because everything I heard about its story sounds stupid) but I was not into it this year. Well, I did postpone watching “Brothers and Sisters” live, and I knew I could just catch up to it the next day. (The TV viewing habits and how they changed in the past year are just incredible sometimes. I love the ability to watch or re-watch something the next day or week). Meryl Streep made the best speech of the evening for me (and Robert Downey Jr was second best) and I liked most of the winners (except “Avatar”). Ricky Gervais made a few really funny jokes like the one about Mel Gibson but most of the stuff was blah. Still, it is awards season and I actually like the crop of this year award nominated movies and look forward to seeing most of them.
