For this holiday season my parents decided to get me a smartphone. Before this week, I just had a regular phone with a keyboard that I could pull out to type text message. It made calls, had a calculator for tipping and otherwise, did text messages. That's about it. And I really didn't want to upgrade. But I'm also not looking a gift horse in the mouth so I now have Galaxy S5. I was looking forward the most to having a transportation app so I can see when the next bus or train could be.
My Mom brought it over today when she came for the day. Tomorrow, Bear, Tanya and I are heading to Bear's parent's house for Thanksgiving for a few days and Mama wanted to pack Tanya' things herself and to give Tanya a bath. And it was easier for me, especially since I had to bake my annual cranberry muffin bread. I made my Mom muffins too - 6 chocolate chip and 6 cranberry. And Tanya got two stroller naps - one in the morning with my Mom and the afternoon one with me. She is a happy baby except if she is tired or can't nap well.
Back to smartphone - it was super creepy when I went to put some appointments into my Calendar and discovered that the phone automatically included the University academic schedule. I'm on leave this semester and going back part time next semester (most likely, if I don't find something else). I guess the phone figured out where I work? Or something? It's just creepy. Typing text messages is also more awkward on the smartphone, the autocorrect is annoying but there is a feature where you can speak the text message.
