bearshortySince last Tuesday, when Bear started his work schedule again where he finishes late and stays over his parents' house and basically leaves from Tuesday afternoon to Saturday afternoon, we've been on the new schedule too. On Tuesday morning, my Mom comes to get me and Tanya and we drive over to Staten Island until Saturday morning, when my parents drives us back and Bear comes home. So for half the week, it is Tanya, my parents and I, with Mom at home with me and Tanya all day and Papa playing with his granddaughter in the evenings and, the other half the week, it is Bear, Tanya and I.
This schedule and driving back and forth works really well on many levels right now while Tanya is so small. Bear gets to really sleep four nights a week and recharge his batteries for baby duty and on those days it is less stressful for me too since my Mom tends to take over a lot and I feel more relaxed since I know Tanya is looked after. And at night, my Mom shares the night duty and brings baby to me to for her to eat, and I get a little more sleep as a result. The hard part is the fact that Mama takes over, preventing me from learning easily and making weekends hard. She holds her so well and Tanya does cry more with us - but probably because our apartment is too warm.
At least we know Tanya is doing well overall, despite throwing crying fits that make me cry, because she is gaining weight well and growing. Bear and I went to the pediatrician for a check-up with her yesterday, and all was good. Both Bear and I are waiting to that magical three months where everyone says that it gets more fun and easier. Newborn stage is certainly very hard and stressful. I have mad respect for all mothers now.
Today is also my 2nd wedding anniversary. (And in a week it will be 16 years since we started seeing each other). Bear got cake from the bakery that did our wedding cake, yesterday and this morning we exchanged cards. Then I left with Mom. Next year, we'll do something again - like have Bear cook for me like last year.
