A curious thing occurred to me today as I was giving my Industrial Revolution lecture and as I was putting together the Powerpoint presentation for it this morning. I was actually enjoying it and finding it interesting for the first time ever. I never liked 19th century history before. Too many isms. For me history ended with Napoleon and the rest were modern events. I obviously studied the rest but it was never as fascinating. And now I’m looking forward to imperialism and colonialism. I’m finding this whole semester of Early Modern and Modern global history to be a lot of fun.
