Mar. 7th, 2012 11:00 pmI had a very productive morning since I finished grading the rest of Equiano papers – I gave a lot of Cs this time round. Only a few real “A.” Two students were pretty shocked at their “A-“ and that was really fun to see. I gave a midterm today and marked their Response Papers in the meanwhile. One girl actually plagiarized and I had a talk with her after class. She copied from the internet and, of course, I could tell right away and googled it. She did say that sometimes to understand the text she would go online and it helps her but I made it very clear that while that is fine she needs to cite anything she takes from it. This girl has been a conscientious student so far, so she just got a warning and a scare (she later emailed again to apologize) but she was lucky this was just a response paper and not an actual one.
Some of the students were so nervous before the midterm. They had to analyze documents for it and it was scary to them. I had to talk some down a little.
The weather is so very nice tonight, very spring like so for once I just had to go for a walk, I really need to exercise more, I’ve been slacking. So, of course, this was a day a black dog (on a leash too, but not tightly controlled) decided to spring on me. He came close, but did not actually get to me but my legs were pretty shaky. I’m just glad I didn’t go into the whole panic mode, my heart wasn’t beating that rapidly for long –which is good. My phobia is certainly better but I still had to call Bear to calm myself down. Seriously, people, have control of your dogs. Any person would not like it if a dog suddenly lunged for them, much less a person with a dog phobia.
Did more writing tonight – I got to my rough draft length for the story – yay.
