Although Monday is my busiest day, it was actually pretty good today. I think it is because in my Global class we were doing discussion of Voltaire “On Toleration” and Wollstonecraft and in the “Sex, Power and Identity” class we were talking about Hagiography and the students had to do their presentations on different saints for the second half of the class. Some were pretty good and others were on the middle school level, not analyzing as much – I had to ask them leading questions.

In both of my classes I was trying to talk more about social construction of either ideas of nature (Wollstonecraft) or sanctity (hagiography) and it is like hitting a wall. I really need to push them more to engage with complex thinking – they are in college after all.
