I spent the morning doing the final prep for my Global class and reading their personal essays. I don’t know why but I feel slightly nervous before each class – not once I start the class. I think maybe it is because I’m just really liking this group and I want to do the best I can. But this semester I’m just feeling a little strange about teaching.

Class itself went great. We were covering Consequences of Reformation – from Anglicanism and Catholic reformation to Wars of Religion. I’m really enjoying teaching this class: 21 out of 27 students said something. Maybe because I make them say their name before they talk and they know I’m writing it down when they say something for their participation points. And many of these kids are Physician Assistant majors and have a reputation for being very studious.

I have my office hours Wednesday afternoon now which usually means lots of printing and some socializing with Abena. Although, I did have a student come see me already.

I was talking to Prof S. about my Sex, Power and Identity class, which she taught last year and we ended up talking about “Women on the Margins” which is one of my favorite history books. And then she let me borrow a Natalie Zemon Davis book “A Passion for History: Conversations with Denis Crouzet.” It is basically interviews with her and she is just such an awesome historian and writer and person. I know I don’t have much time on top of all my classes and my own stuff but I just had to borrow this book.
