Jul. 10th, 2010 11:00 pmThis morning, I read Philip K. Dick’s “Adjustment Team” from his “Selected Stories” book. There is a movie coming out soon with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt based on the story and the trailer for the movie actually made me want to finally pick by Philip K. Dick stories. From what I read today, the movie would just take the basic premise and do a whole new plot. There are some outdated politics in the story and some gender issues (since the God-type person apparently scoffs at sharing anything with a woman, especially a wife). But since it was written in the 50s or 60s, it doesn’t bother me too much. The premise itself, of reality needing to be occasionally reset for some grand plan, is interesting and some of the images the story evokes of things being grey and ash on being adjusted is quite fascinating. And the reaction of a person accidently stumbling into it all, because his dog did not bark on time. And God is a dick in this story.
There was nothing much to do today, since it is a Saturday, which is firmly my day off. It is still hot outside, although I went for a walk to the store to get some stuff (and got caught in a nice rain on the way back, which was so welcome in the humidity). So I watched a lot of TV.
“Highlander” Season 1. I finished the season today. Here are some thoughts:
( Highlander Season One )
