Aug. 10th, 2011 11:00 pm SYTYCD Top 4 Perform
Katie Holmes doesn’t add too much to the critique there. She just loves everyone. Four routines and a solo from each contestant is a bit much.
Melanie and Marko’s Disco – it’s not my favorite style but it was ok.
Sasha (with Mark!) – Jazz by Sonya – Mark as obstacles – I just like that it is not a romance. Nice. The only problem is my eyes are on Mark and mostly on Mark (he got even more gorgeous). But a really good dance.
Tadd (with Joshua) –hip-hop by Lil C – the problem here is that Joshua hits so much harder than Tadd. It was fine and it was great to see Joshua.
Melanie (with Robert) – contemporary with Tucci – do the judges want her to lose by giving her another contemporary piece. I’m frankly tired of them. She is a great dancer but I don’t respond to these types of routines anymore – I don’t care about unrequited love.
Sasha and Marko – broadway by Liff – cute and set to “Whatever Lola Wants” – really highlighting Sasha. The show is really building her today. Marco was such a supporting role here.
Melanie’s solo – she is so good at her solos. Loved the spring music and it conveyed emotion well.
Marko’s solo – loved it too. He can just contort his body.
Sasha and Tadd’s cha-cha – that is a weird music to set the cha-cha to. Didn’t actually felt like a cha-cha. Again more of a Sasha showcase here – the girl has legs. Tadd couldn’t pull it off.
Marko and Lauren – contemporary – again, it was fine, beautifully danced but I’m just tired of contemporary. I liked the song.
Commenting from memory as computer battery was dying:
Liked Sasha’s and Tadd’s solos. Good job on solos tonight.
Melanie and Tadd – fun routine and the clothes come off.
Melanie and Sasha – I loved it. I think it was my favorite of the night. Did SYTYCD just snuck in a routine about two women having an affair here? The choreography and the concept of women trapped by 1950s ideals was just moving.
Marko and Tadd step –eh
Tonight was a little sluggish; why did they have to dance so much. And Nigel – stop influencing the viewers to vote to shut you up. That wasn’t necessary. At least there is some suspense and I really don’t know whether it will be Melanie or Sasha. Which I like. Tadd will have 4th place and Marko the 3rd. While this season was enjoyable to watch I didn’t vote even once and not many dancers will really stay with me.
