Nov. 27th, 2009 11:45 pmI never like shopping day after Thanksgiving. Despite all the ‘sales’ the stores are usually crowded and a bit unruly. But I sort of ended up getting some shopping done when we were at a plaza waiting for some of Bear’s high school friends. We started at “Toys R Us” to get a toy for Bear’s charity toy drive (we picked this Lego motorcycle/bulldozer construction), and then we went to Michaels (a craft store) and to Barnes and Noble. Michaels had Christmas tree ornaments on sale so I got four nice pink one. And in the Barnes & Noble I found a book for digital photography for Bear’s Dad, since he likes photography. (We also came across a book of stupid things students write in history papers, but I didn’t want to spend money on it).
We then met Bear’s friends for lunch. One girl is now a nurse and she is sarcastic and funny. The other girl is an elementary school teacher. She also has a fun sense of humor and is very nice. I can see why they and a few other people were in Bear’s group of friends in high school. We went to this Chinese/Japanese place where I had miso soup and Red Dragon Roll. It was ok, not the best food I ever ate, but not bad either. We stayed in the restaurant for a few hours, we just relaxed and talked and had a good time. I never felt awkward in their companies although I only met them once before many years ago. It was a really nice lunch.
We had a very mellow morning and evening, just taking care of some chores, including a trip to a barber shop. Overall, it felt like a very nice day. Now we are just packing and getting ready for our trip to Boston tomorrow. We printed out the directions, but Bear will take his GPS. (He did try to find the street in Boston, NY for a bit before he figured out that we need Massachusetts.)
