Today, at 1:40 in the morning, baby Galya came into the world! Marianna is doing well but is a little tired today so I’m going to visit her and her new daughter tomorrow. But I was very happy to wake up to such happy and joyous news.
My brain also seems a bit slow as I realized that instead of getting to a store to get fabric for the back of the baby blanket, I could just order it online. So I did. This way baby Galya will get her blanket in at most two weeks.
Avatar: The Last Airbender. That Part 3 of “Sozin’s Comet” was just non-stop action. And the ending was very well done as well. A way for Aang to win and find a solution other Avatars could not come up with – how to win without killing a very evil person. Overall, it was a nice TV series and I’m glad people told me to keep going after the pilot episodes (those, I found, were the weakest ones). I do loved serialized storytelling with close attention on continuity and character growth and this show certainly had that. And many wonderful and very likable characters that were fleshed out and were not two dimensional. I loved Zuko’s story and Iroh; and Toph was very amusing. Sukko was a really fun character who was very smart, which I like in my protagonists. Katara was on and off for me. Aang was fine as a character but his story was only occasionally interesting. Villains were nicely done too. Ozai was a bit of a cliché but the final fight did make it work. Azula was a great villain. So, I’m glad I watched this show and I’m looking forward to the sequel next year.
Doctor Who S6E7 After the last two episodes this one was wonderful. Rory is a badass. “Would you like me to repeat the question?” River reveal would have been shocking and interesting if the internet have not guessed it before and speculated on it for ages. But I found I don’t mind it. It does make me want to rewatch earlier episodes to check if there is continuity when we first see Amy and then Rory meeting her but revelation is not that shocking. The reason why she has Time Lord DNA is stupid, though. I like that she has Time Lord DNA though. There was a lot of humor in this episode. Thin Fat Gay Anglican Marines! If the girl in the space suit is River as a child as the show implies, wouldn’t adult River remember that? Why does River operate mostly from the 51st century? My love for River builds with every episode she is on. And her death in Season 4 is getting more and more tragic with her every appearance. Definitely an episode I’d rewatch. For this half season I really liked 4 episodes (first two, Gaiman one and this seventh one) and was meh on two (pirates and second Flesh one) and didn’t like one (the first Flesh one). Slightly better than the last season.
