In the morning, with Lady Gaga’s HBO concert playing in the background, I graded map quizzes for Section 2 of my history class. I still don’t understand how students who have all the places beforehand and blank maps and an Atlas can get less than an A on this. At least my two football players who did not do well on the last map quiz, actually studied for this one.
My cross stitching today while watching Bill Maher. I need to pick up my pace a bit.
I went for a walk in the late afternoon and as I was coming back from it I ran into my neighbor Laura and her kids and they invited me to go get frozen yogurt. I got pomegranate, raspberry and original tart flavors and it was very delicious. I didn’t even realize we has a frozen yogurt store close to us. The Kid wants to learn how to roller blade and she wants me to teach her, so I promised I’d do it. It will be fun.
I spent the last ten minutes glancing at the clock and being sad since this could be the very last episode. In the last few minutes with that family dance at Sarah’s wedding, I just started tearing up. I never lost it during the end of the show quite this much. I don’t want it to end. This season was uneven but the last few episodes were just amazing and as we got closer to the end of the season I realized that I didn’t want it to be the last time I was with the Walkers. If it is the last episode (last I heard they were in negotiations of a shortened last season but it is up in the air), it was very good and it ended in a great way with Sally Field narrating and everyone dancing with such joy. Sarah just married and made peace with her biological father. Kitty is pregnant, although it might endanger her health, but she is happy. Tommy was nonintrusive. Kevin and Scotty danced with Daniel and Olivia too and we had the Kevin and Scotty kiss on the dance floor. (What will I do without Kevin and Scotty fix every week?). Justin danced with Tyler who he loved before so there might be the future. And Nora is getting a happy ending with Brody – who has four other kids, so Sarah has eight siblings total. And Saul is engaged! Which was sweet. So it is a great way to end. And this episode had crazy phone trees and dancing and wackiness. And I will miss this family if this is it. Five seasons and 109 episodes. I caught the pilot live and watched the first season on and off and then watched the first season online before season 2. (this is the beginning of tv streaming). And I just adored the characters. Except Holly whose eyes freaked me out. Kevin and Scotty were my favorite, of course, but I think my favorite aspect of this show other than really believable sibling interaction was how some storylines that in other shows would last for month would come to light in just a few episodes because the Walkers are just so bad at keeping secrets. And I love Nora. It s rare to have a female character in her 60s to have good storylines and just be amazing as Sally Fields was a Nora. So if this is the end, I just want you to know, show, just how much I loved you.
Cross-stitch: more terra cotta. I like this color. I don’t get tired of it. Cross stitching is sometimes about colors for me.

Date: 2011-05-09 09:01 pm (UTC)Rollerblading is my summer exercise of choice. I live about 5 minutes from the beach by car and there is an excellent road along the beach for pedestrians and bikes and roller blades. I love going there. But since I don't have a car, I can only go on the mercy of others. It is a great exercise - burns more calories than a bike. I just wear wrist guards in case I fall, which occasionally happens, maybe once per summer.
