Apr. 30th, 2011 11:03 pmI cross-stitched while watching Bill Maher and had some loud arguments with my dad about some political points that show brought up. I’m really trying to do as much cross-stitch as I can, since I only have a month to finish it and I didn’t have a lot of time in the last few months. But it is coming along.
In the afternoon, I went to the city to meet with two friends from Europe whom I haven’t seen in person for almost six years. But it really doesn’t seem that long, because of email and other means of communication. And last six years really went by fast. On the way there, I proofread my neighbor’s nursing grad school paper, so I got to be somewhat productive too.
My friends and I met by the Met but we decided that on the warm and sunny spring day like today being outside was so much better so we just went to Central Park and spent a few hours sitting on Great Lawn enjoying the sun. I didn’t even notice how time passed we just kept talking. It was really good to see them. Then around six we went towards Second avenue in search of a restaurant.
We ended up in a Japanese place on 82nd and 2nd ave called “Wasabi Lobby.” I think the name amused us from across the street. But it was a great choice and we had really good sushi. I would definitely recommend this place. We also got cocktails and I saw one called “Zombie” made with rum and apricot brandy which I knew I had to get since it has rum, my drink of choice, and because of the name. My friend got one too, while her fiancé got a mojito. The drink was apricot in color, so we wondered at the name. I just had one and mostly after the soup and sushi but it must have had big alcohol content since I got a bit drunk. I don’t drink a lot, so that might have had something to do with it, although she felt it too after ten minutes. I was still able to get on a subway and get out at the right stop and get on the bus and everything so I wasn’t that drunk, but I was nice and giddy and I did feel all that alcohol a lot. Things amused me. I had some water and by the time I got home two hours later I was back to normal, but it was fun to be drunk a bit.
Here are some pictures of the sushi and of “Zombie.”

Cross-stitch: light brown and brown for giraffe ears and middle bear’s face and paws and for parts of Big Bear. I’m just going to pick a color and do all of it for the top half.
Edit: My friend just emailed me that the Zombie has 3.5 ounces of pure alcohol. So no wonder we got drunk on it. :)
