In my history class, we did the discussion of Marco Polo today. I really don’t understand students, whose parents are paying $30,000 per year for their education, who come to class, knowing there is a discussion on the book which they need to read carefully for their next paper and where participation counts in their grade, and they don’t even have the book with them, never mind reading it. But enough people were prepared for discussion to work.

Being as I was paying for my own education when I went to college, I couldn’t stand those said students. They took for granted what a great deal they were getting, and how they could devour what they were learning; why even waste their parents’ money? It drove me insane!

I would hate it especially when it was clear the professor wanted a discussion and only 2 or 3 of us were actively participating … I felt like us few were doing all the work while these other kids just slouched in the chair and tried to appear invisible. So frustrating as a student I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like for a professor!
