Bear came over today and we had a nice quiet day. We went for a very long walk after lunch and ended up walking for almost an hour even as it was pretty cold. I was educating him on the history of “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood” and the characters. He only seen an occasional episode that I made him watch. I do appreciate that he puts up with my fangirlishness and doesn’t mind me talking about slashy pairings I like.
We watched “Despicable Me” in the afternoon. It was a very cute movie. My favorite jokes were about making fun of the children’s books and the dead dog. The main character was very fun for a ‘villain’. Definitely a nice original script. It wasn’t the best movie of the year but it was funny.
I love award season but usually I’m much more involved. This year I don’t care as much. I watched the Golden Globes, of course, but I had my laptop on in front of me so I was only kind of paying attention. Here are a few thoughts:
Ricky Gervais and his very risqué jokes about Tom Cruise “My lawyer helped me work that” and about Hugh Hefner - I can’t believe that aired on tv. I do like his introductions; he just insults everyone and everyone finds him cute. I do like British humor. That was great.
What is with the stupid shoulder drape things on women’s dresses? Looks really stupid.
Robert Downey Jr had a great dirty intro but it was more inappropriate than Ricky Gervais. I bet no one would pick on him.
Tina Fay and Steve Carell bring it.
Best Movie Comedy: ‘The Kids are All Right” (well, I saw it and liked it but I didn’t love it, I really don’t think it was worth all the hype.)
Best Movie Drama: “Social Network” (haven’t seen it yet but probably will)
Exercise: 55 minutes walk
