Nov. 27th, 2010 10:22 pmToday was a mostly mellow day. It is cold outside and there was stuff to do in the house.
I spend the morning finishing the November issue of National Geographic magazine. I read an article about the Japanese sea (because of water currents there are tropical to frigid waters with a large variety of weird fish) and an article on the Aztecs and an excavation near Temple Mayor in Mexico City. The pictures of fish were interesting but I really enjoyed the Aztec article because it really covered the history of the Aztecs and their short reign and overextended empire. So it was a bit a review for me as well, and since I will teach it next semester a nice review at that. I liked reading about their cosmology and religion. I really enjoy the archeological and paleontological articles in National Geographic the most.
In the afternoon, I graded a bit and I worked on the remaining handouts for my writing class. The only thing left will be writing a final exam in about a week.
In the evening, we went to an Indian food place with Bear’s friends. I tried a dosa for the first time since dosas were this restaurant’s specialty. I got a spinach potato one. It was pretty good. A bit more spicy than I like but not too much. And it always fun to try new potato dishes. Still, I prefer sauces a bit more.

Date: 2010-11-29 05:34 pm (UTC)I have never had Indian food; I know, sad. I hear it’s really good. I’m not too into spicy though, so that’s probably why I’ve stayed away. :D

Date: 2010-11-29 05:47 pm (UTC)It took me awhile to get into Indian food - I kept going because my friends and Bear were into it. And over time I really grew to like it a lot. There are many less spicy options; it is certainly worth a try. Tandoori stuff and tikka masala are usually good options to start with.
