So today was a big grading day. I took breaks to watch “Sherlock” online and “House” live. Otherwise I graded. I managed 18 papers by midnight, which is a lot for one day. They take forever. They are only five page papers but I have to write a lot of comments on the margins and a big comment at the end and point to two things students should work on their next paper. Once I get into the zone I can do 30 minutes per paper but until then it takes 40-45 minutes. And they slowly kill my brain. The good news is that the kids are steadily improving. Most are hovering on C+/B cusp and I even gave one “A.”

“Sherlock: The Great Game” It starts in Minsk! My birthplace. With grammar lessons! The twist at the end – Jim from the hospital – that should have made sense earlier; it did catch me by surprise and I had to rewatch the earlier scene after the episode ended. He is a consulting criminal! Not for one second did I think Watson would be the villain. That jacket was way too puffy. I like that both Holmes and Watson are shaken in the end, like real people would be. That was probably my favorite part. Watson had to sit down and they were both very scared for each other. The cliffhanger is a good one. I’m really glad there is a second season. This episode had a lot of mini mysteries so the pace was pretty good. I put this show on my Amazon wishlist so hopefully Christmas/New Year present.

“House S7E6” Foreman was shockingly having fun in this episode and had some personality. I like Taub and Foreman basketball game – was not expecting that of Taub. All Cottages seemed to be having fun. Not sure about Masters yet. She is not annoying me, which is a good sign. Medical ethics are probably a good thing; we are just so used to watching House operate that someone with actual medical ethics sounds shocking. Cuddy, what exactly did you expect from House? Of course, he would lie and fake test results to save a patient with a risky procedure. I did like that House himself had an ethical dilemma of whether it was patient’s life over telling truth to Cuddy. That was a nice touch. I forgot about Wilson until he had that scene in the end, huh. When Masters paused at the entrance of the house since she didn’t want to break into a home, my thought was ‘what, are you a vampire who needs an invite’, right before Taub said it outloud. Hee. The fake commercial was funny and I liked POTW story. I really liked this episode now that I’m processing it - I’m writing a lot about it!
