Oct. 9th, 2010 11:02 pmBecause of Mama’s seminar thing, the schedule is all jagged this week and that includes today. Mostly it affected Papa since he had to drive us around quite a lot today. After we dropped Mama off, Papa drove me to the library since I was a good child today and did some work. I tend to not to work on Saturdays but I really needed to. I even got to dissertation today. And I graded some papers. Yay.
When we were picking Mama up in the evening, I desperately wanted a snack. As I left the car to see if there was a store on a big street nearby, I heard the faint siren call of the ice-cream truck. For the first time, I think, ever I followed the sound to get some ice-cream. (Usually I seek the ice-cream truck when I'm already in the mood for it) It really felt like I was being lured in, it was fun. The ice-cream wasn’t the best but I liked just having ice-cream today on principle. It is very warm today, it actually felt like spring.
“The Runaways.” I finally saw it (this movie has been sitting there for two weeks now). I liked it. Dakota Fanning is all grown up now and is still an awesome actress. But she never was a child actress, even at seven she was an adult in a kid’s body. Kristen Stewart was really good too, which I was not expecting that much. I liked the music and it was a good snapshot of the 70s and what it meant to be in a all-girl rock and roll group, a first of its kind. And girls got to be real girls. And the story was not driven by any plot point about boyfriends, which was nice to see.
Right now I’m listening to John Lennon in honor of his birthday. I used to just keep my mother’s “John Lennon Collection” in my CDs and she would always wonder where it went. Finally, when I got iTunes I downloaded the CD and gave Mama her copy back.
