30 Days of Me Meme
Day 12: Describe a typical day in your life
Depends if it is a work day or home day. And also if it is a weekend and Bear is home or if I'm at my parents' house for a few days. For simplicity's sake, I'll just briefly describe a work day and basic home day.
Work day: I get up at 6am, get ready and I'm out of the door by 6:20 with my lunch and a thermos of tea. I stop by at the corner store to get a bagel with cream cheese and get on the subway. I have a pretty long commute - a couple of hours, so I either read or grade papers, depending on the week. I actually like the free time of commute. Once I get to my office, I print and photo copy anything I need for class or come up with various handouts. It is also my office hour so students occasionally stop by. Then I teach two classes, 80 minutes each. Eat my lunch in the 20 minute break between classes. After my classes are over I catch the train back for my long commute back. My brain is usually fried by then so I either read my kindle or National Geographic. Once I get home I either cook dinner or play with Tanya (I usually cook enough for a few days at a time, so I don't have to cook every night). Then we eat at 6:30 or so and put Tanya to bed around 7:30. Then I can go on my phone to catch up on LJ and other internet and can go on my laptop a bit. Maybe even watch something occasionally. If Bear is home I usually try to sneak out to the living room without triggering "Mommy Is Gone, No" Alarm and hang out with him for a bit. Occasionally, I grade papers with a red flashlight.
Home day: we are on a routine. I think she is shifting to one nap from two naps right now so it is a little bit in flux but basically we get up at 6 or so, depending on baby, and then breakfast, potty, playgroup, nap, eat, potty, play, Mommy's lunch, nap, eat, potty, playground, home - Bear is back, cook dinner or play some more, eat, bedtime - finally my time is sort of my own and see above about post bedtime routine. I read or catch up on internet on my phone when she naps. My time is not my own right now, but that's fine. It's not forever.
30 Days of Fanfic Meme
12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?
No. I don't think I would want too. I liked the universes I write it; there are only a few crossovers I that I liked reading.
TV
So last night after my trying day I watched the premiere of The Muppets . That was pretty fun. AA joke slayed me. Then I saw that Netflix finally added the last Doctor Who Christmas special, yay, so I watched half of it before my laptop batteries gave out. I finished it this afternoon. And just now I checked BBC America website, and sure enough I watched the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who.
