A very nice day today. Bear and I were meeting up with the girls for my birthday - just Yeva and Marianna with Adama and Galya, of course.

We left at 11 to go to "Toys R Us" first to pick up a bike helmet for Galya. Yeva and I combined to get her a scooter and a helmet for her 3rd birthday, that was this week too, and Janna got elbow and knee pads. The scooter was shipped more than a month ago but the helmet was supposed to come this week through Amazon, but when I saw they still haven't shipped it, I contacted them. Turns out it, it became out of stock and they didn't bother to tell me. It was too late to pick something else online - hence our trip to the toy store, not that Bear minded in the least (he is a big kid when it comes to toys). Then we started driving to Queens for an Indian buffet and got stuck in terrible roadwork traffic. So we were a little late, but so was everyone else.

Marianna and Adama just got a car, so they actually drove in too instead of usual walking. And the food at the buffet was fantastic as usual. I love that buffet. So we all had a great time and spent more than two hours in the restaurant. The funniest moment for me was when the check came. In our circle of friends, we have traditional ways of paying - usually we just split the check and I'm in charge of the math. But during birthday celebrations we split the check among everyone but the birthday person. So Marianna did the calculation today to just divide among 4 adults. So I didn't have to pay for me. But since I usually pay for both Bear and me when we go out, I took the money out of my wallet and handed it to him for his portion. But he forgot that I wasn't supposed to pay and started checking his wallet and looking a bit lost, since doesn't usually carry much cash and he is used to me paying for him (it's from our joint money and he prefers that I handle it). I had to remind him after a bit that it is my birthday lunch!

After lunch, we all drove to Long Island City, Queens to the park by the water facing Manhattan. The weather was a little hot with clear skies but it was very nice in the shade. And we must have seen at least 4 brides in white dresses including one actual wedding that was happened in the gazebo on the peer. And there were many young girls dressed up for prom taking pictures. So lots of fancily dressed people, lots of families and just a nice part to walk in and hang out in. And we got ice-cream too. It was just a very pleasant afternoon. We got home a little after 7 and I was still so full from the Indian buffet and ice cream that I didn't even eat dinner. I'm just going to read more Dresden Files book and go to bed.

Oh, Marianna decided on the name for her new baby girl - she is pregnant too, about a week ahead of me. She came up with Idalia. Her grandmother's name was Ida and she wanted a variation on that.
