May. 31st, 2014 08:55 pmI'm staying at my parents' house until Monday but we drove to Brooklyn today for half a day. First, my Mom had a doctor's appointment. I didn't want to go inside the office - trying not to get sick - so I walked around a little bit. It was a little windy but warm overall. My parents got me this maternity belt that helps support my back as I walk - walking is certainly getting a little harder.
Then we drove to a radiology place so Mom can get an x-ray - she is ok; the doctor thinks it is a sinus infection. But more waiting there. Then, we drove to my place since I had to water Bear's tomato plant and I didn't want the rent check to be stuck in the door for days announcing that nobody is home.
And finally, we went to visit my grandparents in Coney Island since today is my grandfather's 87th birthday. I got him a new watch, since his old one broke a while ago, and my Dad got him a book. We had a little visit and even my Mom went up to visit too. (She doesn't really get along well with my Dad's parents and doesn't visit them often.)
But the time we got back to my parents' house around 2, I was getting a little tired.
I did decide on the baby dresser/changing table I want to get. We are going to go to IKEA next week to get the crib but IKEA only had open changing tables and I wanted a combination with dresser shelves. So I'm going to just buy the one I found in Amazon, in white.
Bear's parents are driving me a little crazy. First his Mom said that she wanted to buy a changing table for us and sent over a print out she found for me to see. It was a fine dresser but then she thought maybe I would like something else and didn't bring it up again. Then they told Bear they would get a car seat. But again, no moves on actually getting one. Now they are saying they are going to get a car seat for my birthday - which, again, great, if they want to do that, it would be a great present. But just do that! Don't just mention things and not follow through. I'm perfectly fine if they don't us get anything - I don't have these expectation of them buying things for us, I don't think we are entitled to anything - but I am the kind of person where if I say something, I do it and if someone tells me something, I kind of take them at their word. When I was staying there last week his Mom brought up the idea of coming to visit on Monday for my birthday after their doctor's appointment since it was sort of half way between their house and Brooklyn. Again, completely unprompted. Ok. I started thinking of getting pizza and cake and my parents would be over too and we'll have a little celebration. And she brought it up to Bear's Dad the following day after she asked me about it. Now, today, Bear tells me they are not coming since the doctor's office is a little further than they thought. So it would be just my parents and Bear. Which is fine. But I like concrete things and people doing what they say they would. Argh. I just like concrete things.
