May. 26th, 2014 09:41 pmIt is Memorial Day today, so Bear was home and we had a nice quite day in our own place. After a lazy morning where we could sleep in, we went food shopping in local fruit and veggie stores for eggplant and fruit and bread. One of my favorite parts of summer is all the fruit - so I stocked up - I got apricots and nectarines, cherries, blueberries, strawberries and bananas.
For lunch, I made a tomato and cucumber salad with sour cream and had lots of fruit. Ate too much. Then Yeva picked me up and I went to hang out with her for a few hours. We had tea with her mothers and then sorted through her old magazines. She just brought a new apartment right next to her mother's on the same floor and she is still unpacking more than a month later, so I was helping her be ruthless with throwing out magazines that look pretty but she is never going to read in reality.
After Bear picked me up to go home, I cooked dinner: eggplant with breadcrumbs, spaghetti with tomato sauce and turkey kotlety (russian meatballs made in a frying pan). I wish I could eat more but I was still so full from lunch.
Talked to my cousin Vika today - she lives in California and yesterday was her daughter's 4th birthday. I gave her a call but she was busy with a party so she called me back today. It was nice to talk to her; it has been a while. She is a adjunct in economics so we talk both about kids and about teaching.
