Sep. 15th, 2011 11:00 pmMovie: “A Home at the End of the World” I think this is my favorite Colin Farrell performance, more even than “In Bruges.” I generally like Michael Cunningham (Michael Cunningham came to Uni a long time ago to give a reading on “Specimen Days”. I brought “The Hours” for him to sign and he was extremely nice). And I wanted to see this for a while and I think I’m at a right point of my life for it. Now I have to read the book since the end made me cry.
“Gay Pirates” by Cosmo Jarvis - Someone on my Remus team posted this since they are writing a pirate fic and the refrain is a very catchy.
I came up with Assignment 2 late at night, as I was re-reading Gladwell’s “Small Change” article. I will ask them in what way, if any, can people use social media like Facebook or twitter to promoted aid of women that Kristof and WuDunn talked about. Basically, combing two articles. I did figure out my problem with Gladwell, other than last year has proven this article wrong. He sees a dichotomy between hierarchy based activism with strong personal ties and high risk and network based social media movements with weak ties and low risk. But he never considers that hierarchy based activism can use social media for its own purposes.
