Mar. 8th, 2011 11:00 pmIt’s International Women’s Day! This day always has fond memories for me since when I was little it was an official holiday and we had a day off from school and I got presents! So naturally, after my birthday and new years, it was my third favorite day of the year.
National Geographic for March has this great pull out about the earth population now that we are hitting 7 billion this year. There is a map that breaks down the world by income and statistics. And Fun facts:
82% of all the people on Earth are literate.
51% lives in urban areas.
40% work in services, 38% in agriculture and 22% in industry
33% are Christian, 21% are Muslim and 13% are Hindu
19% are Chinese, 17% are Indian and 4% are American
13% speak Mandarin as their first language, 5% Spanish and 5% English.
I’m really not prepared for folder review tomorrow; I’m not grading Paper 2. My brain is just shut down. I’ll be fine but I’m kicking myself as usual.
