19 Adar/5 March, 2010
Mar. 5th, 2010 11:00 pmI saw “Alice in Wonderland” today and in 3D! On opening day too.
Bear has come over for a date today and we wanted to see “Alice” since the project was announced. And I figured we might as well go see it in 3D, even if that involved driving 30 minutes instead of going to a movie theater 5 minutes away. The only movie I saw in 3D before was a documentary about International Space Station. I enjoyed the effects in "Alice" but it is still a little weird to see a movie this way, and some parts were a bit fuzzy. I do wonder how the movie will play on regular TV later, if viewing it in 3D alters the way we perceive the story or how we approach visuals.
Overall review: it was loads of fun and just right for a fantasy movie. The visuals were very Tim Burton. I know the reviewers were schizophrenic on this movie but the movie was never meant to be the original “Alice” story, and I was never a huge fan of original “Alice” anyway. This movie had great acting too and Helena Bonham Carter was just excellent. She made me feel sorry for an evil Queen. We saw it in a very crowded theater full of children who all had fun and reacted interestingly. “Alice” is just fun to watch. The story is not exactly deep but that is not the point. It was not the best movie ever made or anything but it was a very good and entertaining movie.
After the movie, we went to get some Chinese food (well, more like fake Thai food in a “Pan-Asian” cuisine restaurant. I was just happy to spend a day with Bear.
