Feb. 12th, 2010 11:00 pmOlympics time! I love Olympic Games. I try to watch a little bit every day. I just love the spirit of it – the whole international community and getting together in peace and often in perseverance. In Winter Olympics, I look forward to ice-skating, cross-country, biathlon and all kinds of skiing. Can’t wait for next two weeks. It makes me want to be my best too.
Awesome things about the Opening Ceremony:
-little commentary at some segments allowing actual enjoyment of songs and performances like “Hallelujah” or “Both Sides Now”
-wonderful floor projection like the whales coming out of the floor
- showing every single team (except Uzbekistan since it was between US and Canada) and not cutting anyone off. After a commercial NBC showed the teams we missed. (In the past they used to cut some teams – one year they cut Belarus; I’m glad they are giving everyone a fair share to be mocked for the uniforms. US uniforms rocked. I was wearing my Olympic hat as I was watching the Parade of Nations to the rolling of the eyes of my parents)
-letting a prolonged French speeches go on without translation. It was easy French that I could actually understand for the most part (for some reason I retain French in my brain; I can’t speak it but I can still read it and understand some spoken stuff)
Boo point: Bob Costas mispronouncing Sochi. ‘Ch’ should be read in a normal English way like ‘chili’ not as French ‘ch’ that sounds like ‘sh’ in “Chicago” I hope he learns in the next four year until next Olympics games in Sochi, Russia. Every time he says it wrong now, I just cringe.
A luger from Georgia tied today in Olympic training. That is a very sad news. He was 21. He didn’t even get to march in the ceremony today. The opening ceremony was dedicated to him.
