New York passed the Same Sex Marriage bill late last night! Great news to wake up to. Go Governor Cuomo! I’m very proud of my state and the governor I voted for.
Today was the last day in the parks and the weather was not very Florida weather. In high 70s in the morning and evening and pouring rain in the afternoon – I even had a jacket on. But it was really sunny and hot right before lunch – best time for water rides – I do love the Barges ride and getting soaking wet.
I woke up before the alarm clock at 6:30 and went to the lobby to reserve our shuttle. I don’t even mind getting up at 6:30 although I will be sleeping in tomorrow.
We went to Islands of Adventure again and this time we started with Superhero Island which was really efficient. There were little lines there so early in the morning and Bear went on the Hulk twice and Storm ride once and we went on the Spiderman 3D ride twice with no wait at all. Then since the Poseidon was still closed we went back to Harry Potter world and Bear rode the Dragon again while I exchanged the Ravenclaw t-shirt I bought for a larger size (in the main store the sales lady had to look in the back for the larger size and brought back on with gold letter – so not Ravenclaw colors. So I tried a different store more successfully.) Then we did Poseidon – which was cute.
We did the water rides next. Bear on the Falls and both of us on the Barges. We got soaking wet but I came prepared this time with better shoes and a skirt to change into. We ate lunch looking at Jurassic splashes – I got a chicken tortilla wrap and Bear a gigantic turkey leg.
After lunch we did the Hippogriff coaster. I got the courage for it from the Disney rides the day before. I did like seeing the views from it but it was a bit too fast and steep for me, I liked Disney coasters more. Then we got butterbeer again and saw the Sinbad show – very cheesy but entertaining.
While we were inside the Sinbad show it started raining – pouring rain. We went to the Hogwarts ride and even with the umbrella we got pretty wet. And it was cold. I was glad I had a jacket. We went into the single rider line for it to go faster and it did.
We were pretty much done after 4pm and since it was still really raining and there was not much more we wanted to do, we decided to go see if we could see a movie in the Universal CityWalk theater before our last shuttle back. Bear did the Dragon ride one more time. So we went to 5:20 showing of “X-Men: First Class” which was awesome. I love X-Men movies in general and this one was no exception – good plot and acting all around. I do love how Magneto has real motivation while still going too far and being a bad guy (he doesn’t hesitate in killing but he sometimes has a point). He and Charles just have different views and it is not simple good guy, bad guy. And the slashy break-up scene was well done.
After the movie we had an hour to get food – I got sushi and Bear got Chinese. The shuttle bus was actually late because of some traffic but it again was a full day. I kept forgetting it was Saturday. One full day of vacation left.
