Dec. 12th, 2010 10:05 pmI’m getting ready for folder review tomorrow, meeting my goal of 16 papers. I actually spaced it out well today, although I did need breaks when my brain refused to work. Today's soundtrack to grading was "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." That actually works well with all the instrumental pieces.
I also made brownies since I’m going on my little vacation after I’m done with my classes tomorrow and I always make brownies to bring with me. I do love it when the house smells like chocolate.
Today was a warm rainy day, and that was actually perfect for all the grading.
Dexter S5E12. This was my favorite season of Dexter. It was just such an excellent exploration of his character, of grief for his wife and his ability to connect with someone else even just for a moment. That scene when Lumen has to tell Dexter that she is leaving was so heartbreaking and well acted, I wanted to cry. I knew that was coming when Dexter left in the morning but still to see him excited and then realizing that he will lose that human connection, it was very very sad. At least Astor and Cody will stay with him for the summer. Most of the beats of the episode I saw coming but it didn’t make them less effective. I knew Dexter would clear Quinn for Deb’s sake and I knew he and Lumen would kill Jordan. Jordan talking at the end was effective too; villains usually are good at the truth. The scene where Deb lets Dexter and Lumen go was nerve wracking too. I figured she will let them go but there were a few moments were I wasn’t sure. I would have been happy if this was the series finale, it was just a nice good ending. Dexter changed from the man he was in season one and it is interesting to see.
