Happy Birthday, Bear!
Bear is being a bit grumpy about his birthday so I was calling him all day with the mission to make it a fun birthday. I told him that instead of one day of celebrating he is getting a week.
For me, the day is pretty ordinary which is fine. I don’t like that I can’t just drive myself to the beach to go rollerblading and have to rely on other people who while they promised to take me this summer so I could exercise usually need to be persuaded. But I did get to go today. And today apparently was my one day a year where I fall on my bum. There are speed bumps on the beach road (I don’t know why, it is not like there are cars there) and, while I’m ok with smaller ones, there is one big one I always try to avoid by going around. Well today I overbalanced in going around and fell nicely. I did fall properly and in the sitting position but I did pull my right arm just a bit and it is never that pleasant to fall. These things happen and I just kept rollerblading, of course. As long as I don’t break anything.
SYTYCD Top 20 perform
Injury starting already? A boy is missing. Mitchell.
Why are they stacking the deck today – Contemporary for contemporary people, Broadway from Broadway guy, jazz for jazz girl, ballroom for only ballroom girl. And they want us to seriously believe that was a random selection?
1. Jordan and Tadd - African Jazz – Jordan, making stupid comments is not endearing. Dance was pretty good. I think Tadd should go far (ha, Nigel agrees with me). The lifts were a bit shaky but it was nice otherwise.
2. Sasha and Alexander – Contemporary from Travis - Wow, nice. I like her face during this, she can get into character. Really good number. How much did I miss Mary’s really specific critique! I’m glad she is back.
3. Clarice and Jess – Broadway – cute enough. Clarice is a bit shaky at it but it is entertaining enough. Jess is in his element. I don’t know if it would be memorable enough. Tyce is hit and miss sometimes.
4. Ryan and Ricky – Ricky is a cheerleader! Lyrical hip-hop – I have a feeling I will love this pair this season. They weren’t hitting that hard but there was lots of heart in it. I like fluidity of Ricky’s movement here and Ryan stands out too.
5. Caitlynn and Mitchell – well only Caitlynn today with Season 7 Robert (with no shirt!) - Jazz by Sonya – very Sonya. Not her best but very decent.
6. Miranda and Robert – Latin – Jive – Hee Jason in rehearsal being the sexy girl. Very cute and I love the 60s costumes. Another fun routine.
7. Missy and Wadi – Jazz – sexy demons – they need to be more in sync. But it was fine.
8.Melanie and Marko – contemporary – Travis again – statues – nice song. Very pretty dancing. This dance I would rewatch.
9. Ashley and Chris – hip-hop – Chris is in his element and it shows. Cute again. Ashley did great for being outside her style.
10. Iveta and Nick – I love that they been paired together – ballroom – That is how you choreograph quick step – to a fun song.
I don’t know if I will remember any of these dances later but it was an entertaining show. I really don’t know who will be in the bottom three – it is usually more obvious.
