“Finale Part 2.” Good conclusion to the Kalas arc and the season. Mac with his suicidal tendencies and trying to sacrifice himself for everybody. I’m glad Methos is there to inject reason and give him another solution. I think that is why they are friends – they both need the other’s perspective because their approach to living in the world is so different. And they just fall so easily into the friendship. The Paris watcher supervisor driving around with an Uzi was fun, but he is a very bad shot not to be able to hit Kalas with so many bullets!

Season 3. Overall, Season 3 is the best yet. There are fewer bad episodes and the episodes that don’t quite gel do have very interesting concepts behind them. (I forgot to review “Mortal Sins.” I really liked the episode, not just because it was the end of Anne arc but because of the horror of the little boy who killed someone and seeing that person so many years later.)

Nothing is funnier than discovering that a song you like on a tv show, you already have. It is a different arrangement and a different singer than in “Homeland,” which is a shame since I really liked the voice on the show but that version is not on iTunes. At least I have this. There is a soundtrack album, which I might actually get or at least this version from Amazon. I really, really liked “Homeland.” I especially liked the flashbacks to young pre-Immortal Duncan and his family and his sense of obligation to his clan, pulling even love behind that loyalty. And the scene with his Mom was so nicely done. Adrian Paul does a great job in the series in general in playing a younger or older Mac, as fits the timeline. Here he plays him so young.

“Band of Brothers” The actor they got to play young Joe was so perfect in the role – from his look, his eyes to his mannerisms even, he really channeled Jim Byrnes. Awesome job, there. And Joe is just wonderful in this episode dealing with his conflict of interests. And the last scene between Mac and Joe is just heartbreaking. Well, they don’t break up permanently. I really started to like Joe in Season 3 and by this episode, he is just wonderful. I think this is the episode where Joe became essential and I just love his character now. The issue of Watcher/Immortal line was addressed in season 3 and now it is back again. And Methos will be right in the middle later. I do like that the show really plays with moral dilemmas that are not really clear cut sometimes. Both Joe and Duncan are called ‘boy scout’ at some point – they do have many things in common. I never cared much about Charlie – his character just didn’t work but I felt sorry for Mac that he had another friend die in his arms.
