November 24th seems to be an auspicious day for me. I should buy a lottery ticket tomorrow. I had to look it up to see if the dates matched up and they did. Bear first told me he loved me on November 24, 1998 - I just remembered it as Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Then 15 years later, on November 24, 2013, I took a pregnancy test and discovered we were having Tanya. And tomorrow, we are putting money down to buy our first place - a two bedroom apartment. It is not guaranteed - the place is in a co-op, so we will need board approval and we still need to get approved for a mortgage - but if everything goes according to plan we can move by the spring (after lots of renovations first). So very adult of us.

My Mom had this wild plan to get the house across the street from them. But we would need to make a lot more to afford that place - it has a studio to rent out but we can't just depend on a tenant to cover the bills. Looking at that place and thinking about it though just reaffirmed the decision to get an apartment for now. And the place we looked at before but turned down, decided the accept our lower offer, so I called today and set everything up.

I had a very busy weekend because I had to finish grading (and go to the dentist for my crown replacement. I get anxiety going to the dentist so I'm glad that's done for now). Now I'm all done with grading this set and have a free holiday week ahead of me. Yay. We came over my parents' place yesterday to see that house and Tanya and I stayed, while Bear went home. My Dad drove me to work today and picked me up. Tomorrow we are going back home and then on Wednesday morning, we are leaving for Bear's parents for Thanksgiving. Lots of travel. We also went to visit my grandparents on Sunday morning - so pretty busy.

But I am really looking forward to just relaxing, enjoying the holiday, working on my story for RS Small gifts, and maybe finding time to cross stitch. I'm also making inroads in the Hamilton biography - it was pretty gripping reading about how the states voted to accept the Constitution. I know what should happen but I'm really enjoying the details and realizing just how contentious and uncertain early American history was.

TV: Reviews with spoilers

Supergirl S1E4
Things I want more of: the sisterly relationship - this show is really developing it and I love all the conversations between them; more conversations between Kara and Cat; more Cat in general - I find her intriguing. Also more Dean Cain is always good - when he said that he would give the DEO all info on Superman that was a bit funny (as he is always Superman to me).

Things I can do without: the romance angle and the convenient obstacle. They need to develop Lucy's character stat - she is just there to be an obstacle and it's annoying. And James doesn't seem to be very excited to be back together with her - why are they? That plot just exists to prevent any Kara dating and it's annoying. Also less Winn pining. She's not into you - try to move on.

What confuses me: So Kara knew how to fly as a 12 year old. But stopped because her adoptive parents didn't want her using her powers? So she had to relearn it at 24. I think that's what happened but I wasn't clear on it. I notice details on shows and the show needs to have a logical timeline for me.

Supernatural S11E7 "Plush"
A old school ghost story! And Donna! I love Donna. She and Jody should team up again. It was really nice to see her again. I hope she finds happiness and keeps being awesome. And how long has it been since the brothers used salt and iron and tackled a ghost. I don't get creeped out by masks or clowns (although when Bear put a Michael Myers mask on one Halloween and just stood there very still, after a while it became very creepy and unnerving), but I can appreciate the creepy factor. And the clown music during murder didn't help. Sam having to gather himself in the elevator with the evil clown was pretty funny. The show was entertaining me - I don't have high expectations. I do think they are building this season very nicely, I like it so far. And I really like that Sam told Dean about the cage visions - I'm excited for the show to go there. And I like that the brothers are being more direct with each other. Although Dean is not saying something from that first meeting with the Darkness.

Grimm S5E4
How did Trouble (or the resistance) find Nick in his secret location? Followed him probably. This episode was ok, nothing special. The main storyline was not that interesting - I figured out it was the girl for the very first, so the mystery wasn't that mysterious. Adeline doesn't bother me as much as she used to, they are building her personality just a little, but the idea of her and Nick together bothers me a lot. I really hope they will back off that ideas. I liked the small things- everyone working together and all of Wu's expressions, the victim behaving like one and hiding under the car or bed with face covered, the small hints of politics and Renard, and every moment of Monroe and Rosalee. I love them so much.
