We spent the morning at Yeva’s place and then my parents decided that it was safe to go back home around noon. They called some friends here who reported that most of the streets near our house were not flooded and the route we could take home. So we packed up and went. We did pass some flooded streets and a lots of tree branches on the ground but for the most part everything was not as bad as it could have been. The house smelled a little musty but it was dry. It took a bit of time to put all the books back on the shelf and take the tape off the windows. I’m just glad everything worked out well.
While I was at Yeva’s, it was actually a bit easier to do work. So I started the Gilgamesh book for my Global history class. I’m just reading the intro right now. I never taught “Gilgamesh” before or really read all of it so I’m looking forward to it.
Doctor Who S6E8 River meets the Doctor for the first time. Two seasons ago we had the Doctor meet River and here is the reverse. And Doctor gives her the journal in the end. And River’s first kiss with the Doctor too. They are kissing a lot lately. Mels being there all through their childhood and Doctor not having the ability to regenerate feels a bit sketchy but I long ago gave up on logic with Moffat. I just love River (and Rory) and the rest doesn’t matter. Hitler in the cupboard was silly fun.
True Blood S4E10 I think my favorite part were the scenes between Terry and Andy. Terry is Bill’s descendant too, which is sort of nice. Terry is a great character. Sookie actually gets to be useful and use both her powers. And she restored Eric’s memory. I was surprised that he remembered loving Sookie too. But she doesn’t let him claim her – she wants to be honest too. Marnie being evil and collaborating with Antonia was a great twist. I was really scared for Jesus when he went it – I really worried Marnie would kill him. Did the show actually kill Tommy for real? That is an interesting twist – his character did outlive his usefulness but now Sam and Tommy are on revenge towards Marcus – and Alcide would have cause too soon. The last power shot was sort of silly. I do like characters like Sookie, Jason, Lafayette coming together to engage with evil of the season. Can’t wait for the last two episodes.
