Woke up at 7:30 since Bear had to drive me home before the snow storm hit. The snow started to really flurry when I got home so the ride back was pretty fast. We basically listened to my new Highlander CD and the CD player in the car kept skipping around, which was mildly amusing. But I was still bummed at having to go home early. Days we actually spend together are rare enough without weather taking one away. At least, New Year is just around the corner for the festivities in my house.

Doctor Who 6.0 A Christmas Carol. I do love having onDemand and the lack of commercials. That was lovely. This is a Moffat story I like, with lots of playing with time and a personal timeline and with bittersweet ending. And limited Amy. It was actually one of my favorite Christmas specials. I think he is much better at one or two episodes than the whole season story. Michael Gambon was great, although when he speaks I always hear Dumbledore now. I loved the opera singer girl, a wonderful voice and a great character. A very Christmassy episode. And some really great dialogue. “You can kiss her or go to your room and invent a sonic screwdriver. Don’t make my mistakes.” “You know what boys say in the time of danger? …Mummy.”

“Inception” I watched it with Papa tonight. I don’t understand why some people said it was hard to follow or confusing; it was very easy to understand. Maybe because I read and watch a lot of sci-fi. I got that he was in limbo in the beginning of the movie as soon as he explained the concept of limbo in the first dream level. In the end, he is either still in limbo, because the top keeps spinning, since he had to be in reality while planning the heist (the tabletop fell down then) or he is in reality since there is a little wobble. It is just ambiguous just for the sake of it which is annoying in a story. I’d like to think that everything after he wakes up on the plane is a dream because the children didn’t age at all. It was a good movie. I did like the emotional underpinning of it. I just think I was expecting more. Certainly not enough special effects and not enough women. Why couldn’t half the team be women? And two main movie characters only talk together once and even then it is to figure out a guy. Maybe four out of five stars for me. I found this article that deconstructs possible interpretations of the movie. It is fun to read.
