We are the same age, I turned 30 a few months ago. And 1996 Grammy album was just wonderful, now that I look at it. I forgot why I bought it in the first place but I'm always surprised at its awesomeness.

But I only came to America in 1993 so I missed all music and pop culture before that. I caught up a bit but I do sometimes have gaps in knowledge. That is why I can always get much more nostalgic about the 90s; the 80s childhood references are from another land.
